Parks Commission Meeting Minutes <br />May 13, 2002 <br />Page 3 <br />elaborated on his desire, as the community would be greatly appreciative. <br />2 <br />3 Wong understood Commissioner Ganley's desire, yet, stated it would be very difficult to open <br />4 only a portion. He added that, should problems arise with surrounding areas which are not yet <br />5 opened, they would have big problems. <br />6 <br />7 Wong indicated that the bare -root bituminous trees would be planted in the spring. <br />9 <br />Chair Jindra asked about the wet -deck, and the budget. Wong stated that appeared to be okay at <br />10 <br />this time. <br />11 <br />12 <br />Wong reiterated the need for nice weather in order for the project to continue on schedule. <br />13 <br />14 <br />Chair Jindra indicated that she had attended the Huskies Dugout Club meeting to explore their <br />15 <br />desire to pay for the lights. She indicated that the club raised $10,000, and Jindra indicated that <br />16 <br />they needed another $80,000490,000 in order for the lighting to be covered. The club decided to <br />17 <br />table the item at this time. She added that she informed the club that they could not put lights <br />18 <br />only on the varsity field, and not the other two multi -use fields. <br />19 <br />20 <br />Wong confirmed that the lights would cost at least $87,000. <br />21 <br />22 V. <br />REPORTS. <br />23 <br />24 <br />A. Community Services. <br />25 <br />Diane Skrivseth stated that they were doing okay without the park. She added that they <br />26 <br />were focused on the end result. <br />27 <br />28 <br />B. School Board. <br />29 <br />Denise Dunn stated that things were continuing on regardless of the fields that are out of <br />30 <br />commission. She indicated that there were several different task forces that were still in <br />31 <br />need of people participating, and urged everyone to think about joining any of them. <br />32 <br />33 <br />C. Sports Boosters. <br />34 <br />George Zurbey was not present. <br />35 <br />36 VI. <br />OTHER BUSINESS. <br />37 <br />Chair Jindra had requested that Todd Hubmer, WSB, be present to answer questions regarding <br />38 <br />Silver Point Park. He was unable to attend, so Jay Hartman informed the Commission on the <br />39 <br />project. <br />40 <br />41 <br />Hartman indicated that the easterly portion of the park has been hydro -seeded within the last <br />12 <br />couple of weeks, and that the electrical lighting has been re -installed. He added that they are still <br />43 <br />awaiting funds for the building contract. <br />44 <br />
