Parks Commission Meeting Minutes <br />March 8, 2004 <br />Page 2 <br />1 personal social gatherings and Community events. <br />2 <br />3 Chair Jindra noted that the Parks Commission would be meeting jointly with the City Council in April <br />4 and that the next tour, which would include the outside areas of the parks, would be in May, prior to the <br />5 regular Parks Commission meeting. <br />7 B. URS Update <br />9 Rich Koechlien, URS Representative provided the Commission with a summary and review of the <br />10 current punch list for Silver Point Park. He reviewed a memo he received regarding the bare spots and <br />I 1 indicated that Premier has promised to come back and fix all of the bare spots. He indicated that the <br />12 repairs would include the areas around the pavilion and the football practice field. He stated that the <br />13 ball fields are in good condition noting that the bare spots in this area would be fixed. He stated that the <br />14 trees would be completed in the spring in the April/May timeframe noting that the requested deadline is <br />15 May 15, 2004. He indicated that the company has been very difficult to deal with and assure the <br />16 Commission that all open items are warranty items and would be addressed. <br />17 <br />18 Vice Chair Koehntop suggested that Mr. Koechlien inform the company that the City would not make <br />19 final payment until everything on the punch list is completed. Mr. Koechlien assured the Commission <br />20 that they would be out in the spring to complete all open items on the punch list. <br />')t <br />Mr. Koechlien reviewed the hockey boards with the Commission. He stated that Veit is lined up to do <br />23 the repairs noting that they plan to tear off all the boards and replace with double kiln -dried wood. He <br />24 explained that this would help to prevent shrinkage noting that the boards would be longer and steel <br />25 bolted through the boards. He stated that if the boards do shrink they would be able to easily replace <br />26 them as they plan to place slotted holes in the steel so they can unbolt and remove/replace damaged <br />27 boards. <br />28 <br />29 Mr. Zurbey asked how they plan to address the gaps. Mr. Koechlien stated that they expect some <br />30 shrinkage adding that they would like to see at least a quarter inch. <br />31 <br />32 Mr. Koechlien reviewed the infield enlargement noting that the southwest field was enlarged. He stated <br />33 that all they have left to do is move the irrigation heads. <br />34 <br />35 Mr. Zurbey referenced Mr. Koechlien's memo stating that it indicates that the bases are 70 -feet. He <br />36 clarified that the bases should be 75 -feet. Mr. Koechlien acknowledged stating that this has been <br />37 addressed. <br />38 <br />39 Mr. Koechlien indicated that the batting cages are still a problem and reviewed with the Commission. <br />40 He explained that they installed a small bituminous curb around the batting cages stating that this should <br />41 alleviate the problem. <br />42 <br />1 Mr. Zurbey stated that the school has acquired some of the astro turf from the Metrodome and suggested <br />paving the area and installing the turf. He stated that this too would help alleviate the problems in that <br />45 area. Mr. Koechlien agreed that it would work well for that area. He stated that he would put together <br />
