2020 Annual Report • Public Works Department • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota

7

IV. Engineering
The City of St. Anthony utilizes WSB & Associates, Inc. for engineering and consulting services
on many of the city’s construction and improvement projects. Engineering activities in a typical
year include: street and utility reconstruction; storm water quality and flood improvements;
chip sealing of roadways; and other infrastructure related improvements. In 2020 the city
completed a number of these infrastructure projects including:

DRIVER FEEDBACK SIGNS
Driver feedback radar speed signs are designed to slow cars down to
help make your streets safer for everyone who uses them. Radar speed
signs display driver speed data, making drivers aware that they are
traveling above the speed limit. Research shows that they are effective
in slowing speed violators, particularly with today’s highly visual,
often distracted drivers. Radar speed signs are popular on high traffic
volume local streets, in work zones, and for school zone applications.

ST. ANTHONY BLVD SIDEWALK PAVING
Surface improvements to the sidewalk on St. Anthony Blvd from the
south end of the bridge to the connection in Minneapolis were made in
2020. The existing concrete sidewalk was in very poor condition,
creating hazardous conditions for pedestrians. The city worked with a
local contractor to pave over the top of the
existing sidewalk with new bituminous
pavement.
