Parks and Environmental Commission Regular Meeting Minutes <br />June 5, 2023 <br />Page 3 <br />1 Mr. Jeremy Gumke thanked the Citizens for Sustainability Committee for all their work. <br />2 Chair Bordeau asked if CFS would consider “decreasing food waste” as another topic for the <br />3 sustainability fair. Mr. Kunitz stated they will look into adding that. <br />4 <br />C.5 Village Gardeners Updates <br />6 <br />7 Commissioner Lona Doolan provided an update. They met with Jeremy and Zach regarding <br />8 working on the Boulevard and Trillium plantings. <br />9 <br />10 VI.COMMISSION REPORTS. <br />11 <br />12 Commissioner Doolan stated she attended a presentation on No Mow May in April hosted by <br />13 the BeeLab. She suggested looking at for next year a Slow Mow May. She also worked with <br />14 Ms. Scwintek at the Middle School Gardens. <br />15 <br />16 VII.OTHER BUSINESS <br />17 <br />A.18 Climate Action Plan Updates <br />19 <br />20 Chair Bordeau stated the Commission will review the communications plan. Commissioner <br />21 Doolan stated in working with WSB a communication plan was developed. The draft is a <br />22 generic plan which outlines the roles for the Commission, Staff and WSB. Chair Bordeau <br />23 referred to the Communication Plan draft on page 5. There was an outreach at Spring Clean- <br />24 Up. Commissioner Doolan reviewed the upcoming events where public outreach would be <br />25 done as well as additional outreach ideas. Chair Bordeau asked if there was anything at <br />26 Silverwood. Commissioner Doolan will speak with Ms. Baguss about a collaboration. A <br />27 representative from WSB commented from the audience. Commissioner Doolan asked when <br />28 the feedback could be summarized and it could be presented at the Commission’s September <br />29 11 meeting. Another person commented but did not speak from the podium. Chair Bordeau <br />30 stated the idea is to point everyone toward the survey to gather feedback. A resident asked if <br />31 the community resident’s or businesses are versed enough in the action plan to give good <br />32 feedback. She would like to have more information on grant monies that are available as well <br />33 as tax rebates. <br />34 <br />35 Ms. Amy Fredregill, WSB, along with Ms. Bridget Rathsack from WSB stated this is helpful <br />36 feedback. It is important that surveys can be an educational tool. Ms. Bridget Rathsack stated <br />37 they talked about the information that residents may want. Ms. Fredregill stated a QR code <br />38 can be made available. Commissioner Doolan stated a QR code was developed for <br />39 Commission contact information. City staff will have a paper copy available of the survey. <br />40 Commissioner Doolan suggested talking to the library about having the QR Code there for <br />41 when they are using library computers. She asked if a flyer could be made to post at the <br />42 liquor store. <br />43 <br />44 Chair Bordeau stated she is ready to commit to the reach out events listed as well as checking <br />45 with Three Rivers Park. <br />46
