Parks and Environmental Commission Regular Meeting Minutes <br />June 5, 2023 <br />Page 4 <br />1 Mr. Dan Kunitz stated CFS discussed many ways of reaching out to direct residents to the <br />2 climate plan survey. Ms. Amy Fredregill stated the survey results will help determine the <br />3 Plan. <br />4 <br />5 Commissioner Doolan asked about question 2 in the survey and whether the “other” option <br />6 should be added. Ms. Bridget Rathsack stated there are a few that will have “other” added. <br />7 Commissioner Doolan referred to question 4 and whether more context could be added. For <br />8 question 3 she suggested adding the comprehensive plan goal and for question 6 she <br />9 suggested combining some of the options. For question 8 adding an “other” option. <br />10 Commissioner Doolan asked about question 15 and Ms. Rathsack stated the demographic <br />11 questions are part of the survey tool. Questions are optional. The question was raised as to <br />12 how the demographic data would be used. <br />13 <br />14 Commissioner Fee referred to question #9 and since contact information is not provided how <br />15 can they become involved. The survey is anonymous. The website will be the place for any <br />16 updates and information, along with Commissioner contact information. <br />17 <br />18 The WSB Representatives reviewed the draft climate plan. The contents include Vision and <br />19 Mission; Existing Conditions; Greenhouse Gas Inventory; Stakeholder Engagement; Overall <br />20 City Vision; Vision & Initiatives by Category: Water, Waste, Energy, Transportation and <br />21 Funding Opportunities. The sample chapter reviewed was “Water”. <br />22 <br />23 Unidentified woman asked if a study would be done of the City’s greenhouse gas emissions. <br />24 Ms. Bridget Rathsack stated that would be done as part of the regional indicator initiative. <br />25 Unidentified woman asked who would make the best cost benefit decision. Ms. Amy <br />26 Fredregill stated the cost benefit analysis tools are available. Commissioner Doolan asked <br />27 when referring to stakeholder involvement does that mean the Commission. Ms. Bridget <br />28 Rathsack stated all input has not yet been gathered and they are placeholders. <br />29 <br />30 Chair Bordeau stated she was very excited to see this. She hopes the document is usable for <br />31 City Staff and residents can get a good idea of the City’s commitment. She added it might be <br />32 nice to have a one-page summary of the Plan. <br />33 <br />34 City Manager Yunker stated WSB was looking for dates for a work-session. He suggested <br />35 August 14, 15, 17 or week of August 21-24. The Commissioners stated they are available for <br />36 any of those dates. Mr. Yunker offered August 23 for the work session at 5:30 p.m. <br />37 Commissioner Doolan asked who will keep the communication plan up to date and <br />38 Commissioner Doolan was asked to keep it up to date. The timeline was reviewed. <br />39 <br />B.40 Commission Parks Tour <br />41 <br />42 Chair Bordeau reviewed a summary of the Commission Parks Tour that was held on 5/13/23. <br />43 <br />44 The Top Things that Stuck Out: <br />45 Lack of recycling and composting collection bins at parks. <br />46 Lack of wayfinding to park/features and within park.
