Investing in renewable energies, better public transportation, water-efficient landscape rebates, and
better recycling options.
Find ways to help make sustainably energy sources more accessable to residents.
Solar
1. Single use plastic ban. 2. Residential grants to help homeowners remove dead ash trees and
replace with trees tolerant to MN's changing climate. 3. Making streets more walkable and bike -able.
4. Educating residents on how to be resilient to a changing climate, especially for those most
vulnerable to it's hazards. 5. Supporting and educating on low-waste lifestyles.
Know some would like compost pickup.
Moving to electric for all city vehicles and reducing pesticide/herbicide use. Ensure that water and
utilities are prepared for extreme weather. Incentivize/promote drought tolerant and/or native plants
and pollinator friendly lawns.
Strongly incentivize clean energy usage in homes and electric vehicles. Increase walkable/rideable
street space through dedicated lanes/walkways. Rezone to allow small grocery stores to provide
healthy food in closer proximity to residents and reduce car trips. Focus on water quality monitoring
efforts even more. Ban use of chemical treatments on lawns/city property. Promote education of
children and residents on environmental issues and sustainability. Plant more trees on city property
and incentivize planting of more trees on residents’ grass-filled lawns.
Energy reduction, reuse and reduce initiatives, models for SAV citizens to learn from
Carbon emissions should be a primary focus, including use of electric vs. gas-powered vehicles and
equipment and buying into solar gardens or installing solar for City facilities.
Water use
Reducing or eliminating GHG emissions related to Village activities; e.g. purchasing EVs to replace
gas and diesel powered vechiles and equipment .
The focus of the city (and city resources) should be to foster a healthy and safe place for its
residents (to the extent practically feasible, given most things creating poor air quality, for instance,
come from sources outside city boundaries - like fires hundreds of miles away), not on arbitrarily
reducing carbon emissions.
Lower taxes. Allow resident and business to address how they see fit , by retaining more of their
money.
The City of Saint Anthony is made up of all kinds of people who have all kinds of views on climate
change along with businesses. The city administration along with Police, Fire, Liquor etc need to
continue to look for ways to reduce our, "city" carbon out put . It takes a village and unless everyone
is buying in it will never happen. Cars along with heating our houses contribute a lot along with the
transportation of goods for our use. Unfortunately real home runs on what to do about it do not
seem to exist which makes it feel overwhelming. So makes goals and keep working towards those
goals as new things to reduce carbon become available.
I would like to see St Anthony strive toward reducing its carbon footprint by promoting composting
more such as in the school systems, by turning off the power in blocks, by promoting bus or
bicycling in the city (perhaps make a bike lane on our larger roads?), and by making laws for waste
in our city.
Unknown, I defer to climate experts for what local municipalities and individuals can do to make an
impact .
Moving to all electric for city vehicles and encouraging residents to move to electric for vehicles,
lawn equipment etc. Ensuring that city utilities are prepared for extreme weather. Reducing
pesticide/herbicide use. Making more walking paths to the city schools, so kids can walk to school
safely and not in the roads.
Promote public transportation and biking including more sidewalks. Bring back pollinator garden
project . Contract with garbage company for curbside composting, make composting required
Promote public transportation and biking including more sidewalks. Bring back pollinator garden
project . Contract with garbage company for curbside composting, make composting required
Encourage remember energy sources and actions that make us less dependent on cars (public
transit access, walkability, bikeability, ??), help residents improve their homes' energy efficiency
