0 emissions
Ensuring our water resources - quantity and quality
Incentivising citizens to embrace climate footprint reduction habits.
composting, recycling
reduction of greenhouse gases
Investing in renewables for municipal energy use and incentivizing businesses to adopt renewables
unable to answer at this time
Increasing our use of cleaner energy, improving walkability, and decreasing our waste.
Green spaces and parks
Leading by example - the city and school district should be carbon-neutral: electric vehicles and
100% renewable energy.
Safe drinking water
Offer more frequent recycling dates for non regular items; require homes to have more stringent
hvac inspection requirements; strict inspection requirements for buildings;
Renewable energy and tree planting, water quality improvements.
Sidewalks!
Mandatory Composting
The city can do nothing to impact climate change on its own through reducing carbon. Implementing
any carbon reduction initiatives will just lower the quality of life in the Village and cost the tax
payers money.
Better recycling options and reducing plastic use; getting people to focus on reducing emissions
and other pollutants in the air
Water quality, reduced chemicals in Central Park and Wilshire Park, walking/biking paths
Monitor air quality with devices placed around city and educate people on ways to improve it .
Recreational fires are contributing, especially outdoors. The city should address how they are
polluting the air and ban them. Produce documentation on the toxins in wood smoke, include articles
in the city newsletter to educate people on the harmful effects.
Protecting vulnerable folks, reducing carbon footprint
Water wasting - the city watches our water usage on a micro level while at the same time the
maintenance crews waste tremendous amounts of water when opening all the water hydrants to
flush them out . We had our street tore up last summer and they opened the hydrant up and let the
water (thousands of gallons) run down the street to relieve the pressure in the water lines. I
suggested to our city water management that they use the water to either fill up the city water truck
or to hook a fire hose to it and water the lawns in the vicinity. Basically they told me to buzz off.
Clean air, clean water, preservation of infrastructure and green space, Better care (i.e. watering) our
tree canopy. Sustainability. Use a no water/ no chemical turf or other plants to replace traditional
lawns. Help homeowners come up and implement a home/yard/garden sustainable plan, Help
vulnerable segments of our population. Build community resiliency and sustainability,
Solar. Reducing water usage; offering curb side organics collection
Carbon neutrality of all city-owned facilities/vehicles
Electrify city fleet , add solar panels to city owned buildings, offer incentives to residents trying to
add solar panels to their houses
AUse of solar & wind technology in any new or upgrading of city infrastructure. Enhanced
accessibility to safe & reliable public transit .
Better walking and biking paths that are safe, smart , and accessible. Accessible electric charging
stations for cars.
Create a program for education about air source heat pumps and home electrification including
some grant funding and sending out a list of good contractors who do this work so residents are
ready to electrify the day something breaks! Also what is the plan for not locking into future
emissions with natural gas infrastructure improvements - Can we do a city wide geothermal system?
