I think as a regular citizen, I would benefit from an education moment from the city on how to do
this.
Produce less waste, monitor our heating and cooling systems—increase & decrease as necessary,
walk when appropriate. Would love to have alternative sources of energy.
Use less
Install emissions-friendly exhaust stacks on manufacturing plants, enforce appropriate waste
disposal, enforce vehicular emissions (many diesel-powered vehicles including school buses are
driving around spewing out black smoke), residential chimneys are the most perceivably prominent
polluter in Saint Anthony - even when it 's not cold chimneys are spewing out harsh smoke that 's
painful to the respiratory system. Sore throat & lungs is a sure indicator the weather has gotten
colder but continues well into spring & past .
Drive less access more spaces on foot
Pick up garbage and that is all that is needed
Affordable Solar. Electric vehicles with easy access to charging stations locally in our neighborhood,
or assistance for installing charging stations at home. Have better access and safety around walking
and biking.
Reduce my individual household consumption of energy and water, as well as reduce my
household’s waste output (focusing on reduced consumption of plastics, educated/correct recycling,
and year round composting).
Individuals can ensure all single -use plastics become multi-use (i.e. instead of buying ziplock bags,
reuse bags from items such as shredded cheese, dried fruit , freer goods etc). Individuals can also
engage in home composting (the city would need to loosen some of the very archaic constraints on
home composting). Businesses can STOP providing free single -use plastics for shopping bags and
eliminate default freebies such as forks and knives, etc. with take -out containers.
What we are currently doing.
There is no Climate Crisis. The climate has always changed and always will.
continue food scrap composting drive less
Reduce energy and water use
move towards more renewable energy use and limit water use
Dry laundry on clotheslines as much as possible. I use indoor drying racks in winter. I recycle much
and use organic recycling a lot . I dispose of many items during Village spring clean up. I use the drug
drop off at police dept for all unused or outdated drugs. I use a battery lawn mower - still have a gas
snowblower though. I limit my driving - bundle errands into same trip. I buy secondhand items and
refinish furniture.
Walk more, electric car, water conservation.
Choose businesses in walking/biking distance, compost as much of my (food) waste as possible
Solar
Drought tolerant landscaping, more efficient appliances, and solar panels if I win the lottery
Bike Commuting
Drive less
drive less
increase our energy efficiancy
Upgrading to energy efficient appliances
Consider Hydrogen powered city vehicles, vs. electric
Put solar panels or reflective surfaces on my roof, be mindful of purchases
Recycle in a meaningful way, collect rainwater for gardens, grants for pollinator yards
Install solar
Reduce mowing, make St Anthony a more walkable city with side walks
Up to date equipment , and liability for outdated equipment that doesn’t meet inspection standards.
