City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />December 12, 2023 <br />Page 3 <br />2 Amy Fredregill and Hannah Delker from WSB reviewed a PowerPoint presentation summarizing <br />3 the 2023 Climate Plan. The Timeline was reviewed. <br />5 The Water Focus Vision is to increase the strength of the community by protecting and <br />6 preserving the City's water resources and the Initiatives include: <br />7 Initiative 1 — Continue to reduce drinking water consumption in homes and businesses. <br />8 Initiative 2 — Reduce excess impervious surfaces to improve water infiltration and <br />9 quality. <br />10 Initiative 3 — Establish revegetation program to replace lost tree cover. <br />11 Community — Enlist community in initiative to reduce water use. <br />12 <br />13 The Waste Focus Vision is to protect the health and viability of St. Anthony Village well into the <br />14 future by reducing the volume of waste sent to landfills and the Initiatives include: <br />15 Initiative 1 — Increase participation in organics composting. <br />16 Initiative 2 — Partner with local organizations to host multiple annual events for proper <br />17 disposal of hazardous waste, including electronics and appliances. <br />18 Initiative 3 — Reduce the amount of non -recyclable waste sent to the landfill. <br />19 Community — Enlist community in initiative to reduce volume of waste in St. Anthony <br />20 Village. <br />21 <br />22 The Energy Focus Vision is to re -envision City-wide energy practices to reduce city-wide CO2 <br />23 emissions by 80% and City facility CO2 emissions by 100% by 2040 and the Initiatives include: <br />24 Initiative 1 — Improve the efficiency of homes, businesses, and public facilities in St. <br />25 Anthony Village. <br />26 Initiative 2 — Increase usage of renewable energy. <br />27 Initiative 3 — Increase the purchasing of electric devices and appliance alternatives. <br />28 Community — Enlist community in initiatives to increase building and home energy <br />29 efficiency. <br />30 <br />31 The Transportation Focus Vision is to reduce the emissions produced from travel by enhancing <br />32 multimodal transportation opportunities and improving access to EVS and the Initiatives include: <br />33 Initiative 1 — Improve accessibility and increase use of non -motorized transportation <br />34 infrastructure. <br />35 Initiative 2 — Increase electric vehicle ownership across St. Anthony Village. <br />36 Initiative 3 — Reduce avoidable vehicle emissions. <br />37 <br />38 The Climate Plan is presented for adoption by the City Council this evening. Once adopted, the <br />39 Climate Plan Implementation section will be reviewed at Goal Setting in January for the City <br />40 Council to begin prioritization and identification of staff resources to carry -out the <br />41 exploration/implementation of the Action Steps. <br />42 <br />43 Councilmember Webster thanked Amy and Hannah on working with the Parks and <br />44 Environmental Commission on this Climate Plan. <br />45 <br />
