This increase has exacerbated the current lack of space <br />and functionality, requiring an immediate need for a repurpose of space and, soon, considerable <br />expansion. Pictures of some of the current conditions were provided. <br />Three bids were received for Phase 1 of the renovation and expansion project, which is a mild <br />repurposing of space. This includes increasing the size of the squad room to accommodate the <br />needs of more patrol officers and the addition of office space for a detective and a community <br />engagement officer. The front office will also be refreshed to accommodate the addition of an <br />office support specialist position. This will result in a reduction in storage space and personal <br />offices for patrol sergeants and does not include any furniture. <br />The lowest responsible bid was received from Greiner Construction of Minneapolis and includes: <br />Squad Room & Offices $149,898 <br />Front Office Area $26,574 <br />Staff recommends authorization to contract with Greiner Construction to complete these projects <br />as described. <br />A PowerPoint presentation was reviewed in detail. <br />Councilmember Jenson stated he is in favor of the proposal. <br />Councilmember Doolan stated she supports moving forward with this project. <br />Mayor Webster stated she supports moving forward. <br />Motion by Councilmember Jenson, seconded by Mayor Webster, to approve Resolution 26-026 — <br />A Resolution Authorizing Funding for Phase 1 of Police Department Renovations. <br />Motion carried 3-0. <br />X. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCIL MEMBERS. <br />City Manager Yunker noted today was the last day for the Public Works Superintendent Josh <br />Moellman. <br />Councilmember Doolan stated on March 11 that she attended Day on the Hill. On March 16, she <br />attended the Ramsey County Active Living Meeting. On March 19, she met with the Met <br />Council Land Use Advisory Commission. <br />Councilmember Jenson stated on March 11 that he attended Day on the Hill. On March 12, he <br />attended the Ramsey County Local League of Governments CLAW Meeting via Zoom. On <br />March 13, he attended the Ramsey County 911 Center Tour.
