He stated the <br />annual end of year Sister City meeting is scheduled for November 17'h at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. <br />He indicated the annual FinnFest event will be held in Minnesota next year on August 8-10. <br />Councilmember Stille reported he attended the St. Anthony Civic Orchestra concert on July 4'h at <br />Salo Park. <br />Councilmember Gray reported he will be attending the North Suburban Communications <br />Commission meeting on July 11'h and the Commission will be voting on a proposal to extend the <br />Comcast franchise agreement for one year. <br />Councilmember Jenson stated the City Council invited former Mayors and City Councilmembers <br />to attend the annual League conference last month and he received several thank you letters from <br />the elected officials who attended the conference stating they appreciated being invited. <br />Mayor Faust reported on his attendance at the following: <br />• July I" meeting with City Manager Casey and representatives from Columbia Heights <br />and Fridley where they received the feasibility study for shared services. He advised that <br />City Manager Casey and the City Managers from Columbia Heights and Fridley will <br />work together to consider options for shared services, training opportunities, and/or <br />purchasing collaboratively and further information will be presented at a future meeting. <br />• July 8'h Regional Council of Mayors meeting with a presentation by the Urban Land <br />Institute (ULI). He explained that ULI is working with Greater MSP on efforts to <br />promote this region to the rest of the country. He stated the City has strongly encouraged <br />the development of a resilient infrastructure including electrical grids and responding to <br />natural disasters. He also discussed the July 8'h Star Tribune article about the Regional <br />Indicators Initiative (RII). <br />• July 9'h MWMO Board meeting. He stated the Board adopted an amendment to the water <br />program from the Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR). <br />32 VIII.
