W <br />2. How will the municipality assure mai'erials are, collected in 2006 from those households that will <br />not receive recycling collection services under a municipally arranged coniract? (e.g., ordinance <br />provisions, licensing requirements, other mechanism) What materials are required -to be <br />collected, and of what frequency? <br />By City Ordinance, residential haulers are required to provide curbside recycling services to <br />single-family residential customers at no cost. Recyclable items collected include newspapers, glass, <br />plastic bottles, aluminum cans and tin cans. The residential haulers working; in St. Anthony are <br />required to pick-up recyclables once a week. <br />It should be noted that while the City's Ordinance does not require recycling services for <br />multiple family residences units, recycling services are available to a majority of those residents. The <br />City is reviewing the licenses of the one or two facilities that do not offer recycling and will be <br />contacting them at renewal time in January about: the importance of recycling in our community, <br />3. How will the municipality assure that all recyclables collected from residential properties are <br />recycled, whether collected by the municipality's contracted vendor or another service provider? <br />As stated in #2, the Cite requires, residential haulers to pick-up recyclable on a weekly basis <br />Also, staff receives monthly reports from these haulers and that, information is used to complete the <br />semi -annul reports required by the County. Those reports are kept and are available for review. <br />4. What changes are planned or anticipated for 2006? <br />None, with the exception that we will work to gain 100% compliance with the multiple family <br />facilities. <br />5. How are recycling services in 2006 to be paid for, beyond any use of SCORE funds? What long- <br />term funding source is in place for recycling services? <br />Whatever expenses are not covered by the SCORE Grants, the City has budgeted to pay then. h2 <br />the past, SCORE funds have been used for administration costs, Clean -Up Day expenses, City <br />newsletter production and mailing costs, and recycle bins. <br />6. Describe the municipality's source reduction and recycling promotional efforts. List types of <br />materials to be used, intended audiences, and method and frequency of distribution. <br />City newsletter, Village Notes, published quarterly-- St. Anthony Ramsey (Hennepin) County <br />residents and businesses are the intended audiences. <br />City Cable Channel 16 -- nrformation related to recyclingis posted on CTV Channel l6 on the <br />Community's Bulletin Board. St. Anthony residents are the intended audiences. <br />City's new electronic marquis sign -- Upcoming information on recycling events is posted on the <br />City's sign. The untended audience is the residents, but others using Silver Lake Road will also benefit <br />from the information. <br />City Staff newsletter, Village Team -- Provides some educational information for staff members to <br />use on the job and in their own lives.
