City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />May 23, 2006 <br />Page 3 <br />1 Mr. O'Brien replied, with the spaces in the back, there would be a total of 52 spaces. <br />2 <br />3 Commissioner Stille pointed out, looking at the site plan, he counts 29 spaces. <br />4 <br />5 Mr. O'Brien called'the Council's attention to the map, pointing out where the existing parking <br />6 stalls are that do not show on the site plan. <br />7 <br />8 Assistant City Manager Moore -Sykes clarified for the City Council that the original site plan <br />9 stated there were 27 parking spaces. These did not show on the original site plan. <br />10 <br />11 Commissioner Horst asked about the variance. <br />12 <br />13 Assistant City Manager Moore -Sykes explained the variance would go within a foot of the <br />14 property line along the west side of the building. <br />15 <br />16 Commissioner Hanson explained that with the building size, they do not have adequate numbers <br />17 of parking spaces. By granting the variance, Building Fasteners would surpass the current zoning <br />18 code on the number of parking spaces. <br />19 <br />20 Mayor Faust clarified the variance is for nine feet and four feet that would then mitigate parking <br />21 space inadequacies. <br />22 <br />23 Commissioner Hanson stated Building Fasteners is proposing broadening the parking lot along <br />24 the west side of the building. <br />25 <br />26 Mayor Faust asked Commissioner Hanson if the Planning Commission passed this request <br />27 unanimously. He also asked if there were any concerns expressed from the neighbors. <br />28 <br />29 Commissioner Hanson reported the Commission passed the request unanimously and no one <br />30 appeared at the meeting to express concerns. <br />31 <br />32 Motion by Councilmember Gray, seconded by Councilmember Thuesen, to approve Resolution <br />33 06-062; a Variance for Parking Expansion at 2825/2827 Anthony Lane South. <br />34 <br />35 Motion carried unanimously. <br />36 <br />37 Councilmember Horst stated he is glad Building Fasteners considers St. Anthony their home. <br />38 <br />39 VI, GENERAL POLICY BUSINESS OF THE COUNCIL. <br />40 <br />41 A. ordinance 06-004; Single Sort Recycling (first reading). <br />42 <br />43 Assistant City Manager Moore -Sykes presented to the Council, the first reading of an ordinance <br />44 for single sort recycling. Ms. Moore -Sykes received a request from three St. Anthony garbage <br />45 haulers. She indicated the Staff report and change to the ordinance came about when Staff heard <br />3 <br />
