EDUCATION <br />The purpose of the education strategy in meeting the City's goals is to foster responsible <br />water quality management practices by educating residents, business owners, City Staff, <br />City Council, and developers about proper storm water management. If these targeted <br />audiences recognize their role in responsible storm water management in their homes, <br />businesses, and practices, it is another means for the City to meet its goals. This <br />education strategy has also been designed to be in conformance with the NPDES <br />requirements. <br />STRATEGY. EDUCATION <br />Policy <br />Policy <br />Target Audience <br />No. <br />1 <br />The City will implement public education as part of the <br />Residents, Business <br />NPDES Phase II program. <br />Owners, Developers, <br />City Staff and Council <br />2 <br />The City will develop and distribute information aimed at <br />Residents, Business <br />fostering responsible water quality management practices. <br />Owners, Developers <br />Topics may include, but not be limited to: <br />• Illicit discharges <br />• Groundwater quality and protection <br />• Controlling invasive species <br />• Water conservation and the water cycle <br />• Proper hazardous waste disposal <br />• Yard waste management <br />• Pet waste disposal <br />• Shoreline management <br />3 <br />The City will continue to coordinate educational components, <br />Residents, Business <br />ro rammin , and schedule with outside organizations. <br />Owners, Developers <br />4 <br />The City will hold an annual public meeting to distribute <br />Residents, Business <br />educational materials and present an overview of the MS4 <br />Owners, Developers <br />ro ram and the City's SWPPP. <br />C. REGULATION <br />The policies developed in this strategy outline specific storm water management <br />elements that are required to be implemented through the development and/or <br />permitting process.
