In addition, he informed the Council of the <br />2 proposed project schedule, which would be as follows: <br />4 Hold Neighborhood Meeting September 2, 2008 <br />5 Approve Plans & Specifications October, 2008 <br />6 Receive Bids & Compute Assessments December, 2008 <br />7 Public Information Meeting February, 2009 <br />8 Public Bearing February, 2009 <br />9 Award Bid February, 2009 <br />10 Award Sale of Bonds March, 2009 <br />11 Begin Construction May, 2009 <br />12 Substantial Completion November, 2009 <br />13 Final Paving June, 2010 <br />14 <br />15 Councilmember Roth questioned if the existing watermain was breaking under the road. <br />16 <br />17 City Engineer Ilubmer replied that the City had experienced 13 watermain breaks along Foss <br />18 Road this year and because the system is failing, they will continue to break. <br />19 <br />20 Councilmember Roth asked if the new watermain would be located in the Sallie place as the old <br />21 main. Be also asked if this street experiences heavier traffic than other streets and therefore <br />22 world the mains break down again because ofheavy traffic. <br />23 <br />24 City Engineer Hubmer stated that this is a normal state aid route but does have a lot of industrial <br />25 truck users and public works track users. <br />26 <br />27 Councilmember Roth asked if this road would be a seven -ton design. <br />28 <br />29 City Engineer Hubmer replied that the road will be accessible to seven -tons but will be designed <br />30 for nine -tons. <br />31 <br />32 Councilmember Roth questioned that if the current infrastructure was built in the 1960s and had <br />33 a design life of 40 -plus years, what would the design life of the new infrastructure be. <br />34 <br />35 City Engineer Hubmer stated with the materials used today, the design life would be for 60 <br />36 years, but would most likely last much longer than 60 years. <br />37 <br />38 Councilmember Gray questioned if the City hal guidelines for when they put in sidewalks and/or <br />39 street lighting for new streets. <br />40 <br />41 City Engineer Hubmer stated the City has already passed a resolution to install sidewalks and <br />42 street lighting for all state aid and municipal state aid highways. <br />43 <br />44 Councilmember Roth warted to know how staff determines which side of the road to put the <br />45 sidewalk. <br />46 <br />3 <br />
