Fire Department <br />2013 Annual Report · Fire Department · St. Anthony Village, Minnesota <br />2013 MILESTONES <br /> <br />New Hires <br />In December, nine (9) rookies were hired, which brought the Fire Department to <br />full staffing levels as well as prepared the Department for anticipated retirements. <br /> <br />Promotions <br />Mark Sitarz was promoted to Fire Chief following the retirement of John Malenick <br />after serving on the Fire Department for 15 years. <br />In 2013, Jay Olson was promoted to Assistant Chief after taking on an Interim <br />Chief role since July 2012. <br />Chris Fuller was promoted to Fire Marshal after taking on an interim position since <br />July 2012. <br />Kevin Cardinal was also promoted to Lieutenant. He is currently the department <br />Safety Officer and will retain that role moving forward. <br />Joe Benik - was hired in December from the part-time ranks as a full-time <br />firefighter. <br /> <br />Retirees <br />John Malenick – 25 Years (32 Years with the City) <br />After a long and distinguished career with the City of St. Anthony Village, <br />John Malenick bid farewell to the City in 2013. John began his career with St. <br />Anthony Village as a part-time employee at the City’s municipal liquor store and <br />in 1988 joined the St. Anthony Fire Department as a part-time firefighter. One <br />year later, John became a full-time employee. In 2004, John took the helm as <br />fire chief, a leadership position he enjoyed ever since. <br />John was wholeheartedly devoted to his profession and to the community and for <br />that, we thank John. <br />John Malenick <br />John Malenick <br />Mark Sitarz
