Hugo City Council Meeting Minutes for September 16, 2013 <br />Page 5 of 7 <br />Donations from Charitable Gambling for January -June, 2013 <br />According to the Gambling Policy adopted by Council on December 19, 2011, all gambling <br />organizations in Hugo are to provide documentation to the City showing profits from the Hugo <br />site and a list of lawful expenditures made by the organization for every six month period ending <br />on June 30th and December 31St. According to the policy, organizations are to spend at least 15% <br />in Hugo. <br />Staff had collected this information from the four organizations conducting gambling in Hugo <br />and presented it to the Council. Centennial Hockey donated 16% of its profits to local <br />organizations, Bayport American Legion donated 69%, Hugo American Legion donated 82%, <br />and Dead Broke donated 214%. Donations by the Dead Broke Saddle Club were made to the <br />MN High School Rodeo and Youth Show. Council Member Haas questioned whether the <br />donations for the MN High School Rodeo directly benefited Hugo. Council generally agreed the <br />organizations were doing a better job in donating back to the community. <br />Yellow Ribbon Network Report <br />Council Member Chuck Haas and Council Member Phil Klein reported to Council on the Yellow <br />Ribbon Network activities held recently. Haas reminded everyone of Burger Night on <br />Wednesday, September 25, 2013. A packing event is scheduled for September 26, 2013. The <br />Welcome Home Pheasant scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2013 is generating a lot of <br />support. The 257th Military Police Company of the Minnesota National Guard will be <br />presenting a Certificate of Appreciation to the Yellow Ribbon Network. <br />I -35E MnPASS Extension Study Discussion <br />Council Member Chuck Haas added this to the agenda to talk about the MnPASS Extension <br />Study Discussion that is scheduled for Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Hugo City Hall Oneka <br />Room at 9 a.m. City Administrator Bryan Bear is a member of the Steering Committing. He <br />stated that he would be attending and will provide Council an update at the next meeting. <br />Board of Equalization Training on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 6 p.m. <br />City Administrator Bryan Bear reminded Council that a meeting has been scheduled for <br />Wednesday, September 18, 2013 for the Council to attend the Board of Equalization Training to <br />be held at the Washington County Government Center at 6:00 p.m. The Hugo City Council acts <br />as the Local Board of Appeal & Equalization and must have least one voting member attend an <br />equalization training course within the last four years. <br />Outdoor Movie Night on Friday, September 27, 2013 <br />City Administrator Bryan Bear informed Council that the City of Hugo and the Postal Credit <br />Union will be presenting Escape from Planet Earth (PG) at Movie Night on Friday, September <br />27, 2013 at Hanifl Fields Athletic Park. The movie is about 90 minutes long and will begin at <br />approximately 7:30. This is a free family event. <br />National Manufacturing Day/Wilson Tool Open House on Friday, October 4, 2013 <br />
