Hugo City Council Meeting Minutes for April 16, 2012 <br />Page 5 of 7 <br />Update on April 9, 2012 Goodview Avenue Neighborhood Meeting <br />On April 9, 2012, a meeting was held at Heritage Hall in White Bear Township with residents who <br />live along the gravel portion of Goodview Avenue to discuss traffic, maintenance and paving of the <br />roadway. In attendance were Mayor Fran Miron, Council Member Tom Weidt, City Engineer Jay <br />Kennedy, as well as representatives from White Bear Township and the City of Grant. City <br />Engineer Jay Kennedy explained the residents on Goodview Avenue had expressed concerns <br />regarding traffic volume and speed, and the cost of assessments. Quotes on the project are due by <br />April 17, 2012. WSB will summarize the quotes then forward them to the agencies involved, along <br />with the Joint Powers Agreement, for consideration. No formal action was taken. <br />Water Conservation Ideas — Charles Prokop <br />Resident Charles Prokop addressed the Council on issues of water conservation in the City, and <br />conveyed his thoughts and concerns regarding the lake level of White Bear Lake and how Hugo <br />residents can do more to conserve water. Charles is the Board Chair for the Fenway Place <br />Homeowners Association, who has taken on the task of investigating ways, as a homeowners <br />association, to conserve water. Charles stated there needs to be more community awareness and <br />offered to work with the City to get the word out to residents and other homeowner associations. <br />Haas made motion, Weidt seconded, to direct staff to draft a letter to Metro Cities to inquire on the <br />status of the Metropolitan Council Water Advisory Committee. <br />Miron made motion, Petryk seconded, to amend the motion to additionally direct staff to put <br />Charles Prokop in contact with other homeowner associations. <br />Vote on amendment to motion: <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Update on the Yellow Ribbon Network <br />Council Members Chuck Haas and Phil Klein provided an update on the activities of the Yellow <br />Ribbon Network to date. The YRN is receiving many "thank yous" for the packages sent to the <br />troops in Afghanistan and Kuwait. Hamburger night is next Wednesday and will be sponsored by <br />Lori and Traci Tapani of Wyoming Machine. <br />Vacancies on the Carnelian Marine -St. Croix Watershed District <br />City Administrator Bryan Bear announced that the City has received notice the Washington County <br />Board is seeking nominees to serve on the Carnelian Marine -St. Croix Watershed District Board. <br />The County Board will select watershed district managers from lists of nominees submitted by the <br />municipalities that are wholly or partially in the watershed district. Those interested in serving <br />should complete the County's Advisory Board application. <br />
