Hugo City Council Minutes for January 20, 2009 <br />Page 3 of 7 <br />Approve Rescheduling of February 16 Meeting to Tuesday, February 17 Due to Presidents <br />Day Federal Holiday <br />Annually, the Hugo City Council needs to reschedule its second meeting of February since it <br />falls on the third Monday of the month, which is the Presidents Day Federal Holiday. Adoption <br />of the Consent Agenda approved the rescheduling of the February 16, 2009 regular meeting to <br />Tuesday, February 17, 2009 due to the Presidents Day Federal Holiday. <br />Approve Rescheduling of January 19, 2009 EDA Meeting to January 26, 2009 <br />As with the regular Hugo City Council meeting scheduled for the third Monday of January, <br />which falls on the Martin Luther King Federal Holiday, the Hugo Economic Development <br />Authority needs to reschedule its meeting to an different date. City staff has contacted the EDA <br />Commission who has expressed their support for a Monday morning meeting on the fourth <br />Monday of the month. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the rescheduling of the <br />January 19, 2009 EDA meeting to Monday January 26, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. <br />Approve Lawful Gambling Permit for Centennial Youth Hockey Association at the Blue <br />Heron Grill <br />The City of Hugo has received an application from the Centennial Youth Hockey Association for <br />a Lawful Gambling Permit for its pull tab operation at the Blue Heron Grill. City staff has <br />reviewed the application and found it to be satisfactorily complete. Adoption of the Consent <br />Agenda approved the Lawful Gambling Permit for the Centennial Youth Hockey Association for <br />its pull tab operation at the Blue Heron Grill. <br />Approve Appointment of Mike Granger to the EDA <br />In November, 2008, former EDA member Phil Klein was elected as Councilmember Ward 2. <br />Councilmember Klein took office on January 5, 2009, and with his election to the Council, a <br />vacancy was created on the Hugo Economic Development Authority (EDA). Former <br />Councilmember Mike Granger has served in the past on the EDA as the Council Representative <br />and has now applied to be appointed as a member of the EDA. Adoption of the Consent Agenda <br />approved the appointment of Michael E. Granger to the EDA Commission to complete the term <br />of Phil Klein to expire on December 31, 2009. <br />Approve Appointment of Derek Larsen to the Parks Commission <br />At its meeting on December 15, 2008 meeting, the Council authorized staff to advertise for the <br />vacancy on the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Commission which was created by the <br />retirement of Pete Pedersen at the end of his term. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved <br />the appointment of Derek Larsen to the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Commission for a <br />three year term to expire on December 31, 2011. <br />Approve Resolution Supporting the 34th Red Bull Infantry <br />The City of Hugo was recently notified by the Washington County Board of Commissioners that <br />the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division of the Minnesota National Guard will soon be deployed to <br />Iraq. The Board requested the City of Hugo acknowledge the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division's <br />call of duty to Iraq and let the soldiers know their service to our country is recognized and <br />
