Hugo City Council Minutes for January 20, 2009 Page 3 of 7 Approve Rescheduling of February 16 Meeting to Tuesday, February 17 Due to Presidents Day Federal Holiday Annually, the Hugo City Council needs to reschedule its second meeting of February since it falls on the third Monday of the month, which is the Presidents Day Federal Holiday. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the rescheduling of the February 16, 2009 regular meeting to Tuesday, February 17, 2009 due to the Presidents Day Federal Holiday. Approve Rescheduling of January 19, 2009 EDA Meeting to January 26, 2009 As with the regular Hugo City Council meeting scheduled for the third Monday of January, which falls on the Martin Luther King Federal Holiday, the Hugo Economic Development Authority needs to reschedule its meeting to an different date. City staff has contacted the EDA Commission who has expressed their support for a Monday morning meeting on the fourth Monday of the month. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the rescheduling of the January 19, 2009 EDA meeting to Monday January 26, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. Approve Lawful Gambling Permit for Centennial Youth Hockey Association at the Blue Heron Grill The City of Hugo has received an application from the Centennial Youth Hockey Association for a Lawful Gambling Permit for its pull tab operation at the Blue Heron Grill. City staff has reviewed the application and found it to be satisfactorily complete. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the Lawful Gambling Permit for the Centennial Youth Hockey Association for its pull tab operation at the Blue Heron Grill. Approve Appointment of Mike Granger to the EDA In November, 2008, former EDA member Phil Klein was elected as Councilmember Ward 2. Councilmember Klein took office on January 5, 2009, and with his election to the Council, a vacancy was created on the Hugo Economic Development Authority (EDA). Former Councilmember Mike Granger has served in the past on the EDA as the Council Representative and has now applied to be appointed as a member of the EDA. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the appointment of Michael E. Granger to the EDA Commission to complete the term of Phil Klein to expire on December 31, 2009. Approve Appointment of Derek Larsen to the Parks Commission At its meeting on December 15, 2008 meeting, the Council authorized staff to advertise for the vacancy on the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Commission which was created by the retirement of Pete Pedersen at the end of his term. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the appointment of Derek Larsen to the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Commission for a three year term to expire on December 31, 2011. Approve Resolution Supporting the 34th Red Bull Infantry The City of Hugo was recently notified by the Washington County Board of Commissioners that the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division of the Minnesota National Guard will soon be deployed to Iraq. The Board requested the City of Hugo acknowledge the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division's call of duty to Iraq and let the soldiers know their service to our country is recognized and
