Hugo City Council Meeting May 4, 2009 <br />Page 4 of 9 <br />Approve Sale of Hugo Fire Department's Portable Radios to St. Joseph, WI <br />At it's April 20, 2009 meeting, the Hugo City Council authorized the Hugo Fire Department to <br />advertise for the sale of the 14 portable radios from the Hugo Fire Department which have been <br />replaced by the 800 MHz communication system. Deputy Fire Chief Jadon 011ila is pleased to <br />report that the City of Hugo has found a municipality in the state of Wisconsin which will <br />purchase the radios. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the sale of the Hugo Fire <br />Department's 14 portable radios to the St. Joseph, WI Fire Department in the amount of $1,500. <br />Approve Temporary On -Sale Liquor License for Hugo Lions Club for the Wilson Tool <br />Picnic on August 8, 2009 <br />City staff has received an application from the Hugo Lions Club for a temporary On -Sale Liquor <br />License to dispense beer at the Wilson Tool Annual Employee Picnic on Saturday, August 8, <br />2009. City staff has reviewed the application and found it to be satisfactory complete with the <br />City of Hugo named as an additional insured on the liquor liability insurance. Adoption of the <br />Consent Agenda approved the issuance of a temporary On -Sale Liquor License for the Hugo <br />Lions Club for the Wilson Tool Annual Employee Picnic on August 8, 2009. <br />Approve Hiring of Marc Smith and Ryan Thompson as Public Works Seasonal Workers <br />At its April 20, 2009 meeting, the Hugo City Council authorized Public Works Director Scott <br />Anderson to advertise for the hiring of five Seasonal Public Works Maintenance Workers. As <br />Council is aware, Public Works Director Scott Anderson announced that three summer seasonal <br />employees would be returning from 2008 and that two new employees would be hired. The <br />interviews were conducted of applicants for the two positions. Adoption of the Consent Agenda <br />approved the hiring of Marc Smith and Ryan Thompson as new Public Works Seasonal <br />Maintenance Workers at an hourly rate of $11.00 an hour. <br />Approve Annual Performance Review for Building Official John Benson <br />John Benson was hired by the City of Hugo on May 9, 1988 as the City's Building Inspector. <br />For the past 21 years, John has worked as the City Building Inspector, Building Official, and <br />Code Enforcement Official. John's loyalty and dedication to the City of Hugo is recognized and <br />respected. John demonstrates an excellent work ethic and leadership skills in managing the <br />City's Building Department which saw some significant challenges in 2008 due to the May 25 , <br />2008 tornado disaster. John leads by example whether or not its completing inspections in the <br />field, code enforcement activities in the field, or front counter receptionist duties as needed. He <br />has excellent communication skills and a good sense of humor in dealing with both contractors <br />and residents. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the annual performance review for <br />Building Official John Benson. <br />
