Hugo City Council Minutes for July 6, 2009 <br />Page 9 of 11 <br />curb modifications except one 90 -degree turn will be made into a stop at a "T" intersection and additional <br />signage installed at curbs to improve safety. Modification of the CSAH 7/8 intersection will be a separate <br />project scheduled for 2010, and the CSAH 8 roadway is scheduled for next year. The Council express <br />appreciation to the County for being responsive to citizen input. <br />Haas made motion, Miron seconded, to direct City staff to work with County staff to schedule a meeting <br />to provide review and report to residents on the project. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Report on June 16, 2009 Washington County Board Workshop on Horse Boarding <br />Operations <br />At its May 4, 2009 meeting, the Hugo City Council discussed with the Washington County <br />Assessor the reclassification of the City's Horse Boarding Operations, which were changed <br />commercial operation. On Tuesday, June 16, 2009 the Hugo City Council met with May <br />Township Board and Washington County Officials at the Washington County Government <br />Center to discuss the current classification. Mayor Fran Miron Council and members Phil Klein <br />and Becky Petryk attended the meeting as well as Councilmember Chuck Haas who officially <br />represented the City of Hugo and spoke on behalf of the Hugo City Council. Councilmember <br />Haas addressed the Washington County Board in regard to issues relating to the City's <br />Comprehensive Plan, the County's Comprehensive Plan, and the need to preserve rural <br />character. After comments from Councilmember Haas and May Township Board Chair Bill <br />Voedisch and a presentation from Washington County staff, the Washington County Board <br />agreed in principal that it would support a one-year moratorium in accordance with State <br />Legislative changes which calls for a study of the current reclassification issues. <br />Haas made motion, Klein seconded, to direct staff to send a letter to Kevin Corbid, Director of <br />Property Records and Taxpayer Services, and the County Board to thank them for being <br />responsive to the citizens of the City of Grant, May Township, and the City of Hugo, and inform <br />them of the City's desire to participate in discussions with the Department of Revenue as they <br />move forward on this issue. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Report on June 22, 2009 Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Community Event at Hugo City Hall <br />At its May 18, 2009, the Hugo City Council adopted a resolution supporting the Yellow Ribbon <br />Network of Washington County. The Yellow Ribbon Network is a way for schools, local units <br />of government, law enforcement, social services and volunteer organizations to be more <br />responsive to the special needs of military families during deployment. Councilmember Chuck <br />Hass was instrumental in organizing this workshop, which was attended by approximately 30 <br />residents and community leaders. Councilmember Chuck Haas provided an update of the <br />meeting stating the Network will be working with Stillwater to connect people who need services <br />to those people who can provide the services. No formal action was taken. <br />
