City Council Meeting of June 2, 2008 <br />Page 2 of 7 <br />Haas made motion, Granger seconded, to approved the agenda as amended. <br />All Aye. Motion carried. <br />Appointment of new Planning Commissioner Greg Burmeister <br />On May 20, 2008, the Hugo City Council and Planning Commission Chair Dave Schumann interviewed <br />five applicants for the vacancy on the Planning Commission that occurred with the resignation of Kelly <br />Bailly. Mayor Fran indicated the quantity and quality of the applicants was excellent. The Council <br />agreed to appoint long-time resident and former firefighter Greg Burmeister to fill the vacancy. Greg <br />thanked the Council for the appointment and their confidence in him. <br />Puleo made motion, Haas seconded, to appoint Greg Burmeister as Planning Commissioner to fill the <br />vacancy of Kelly Bailly with a term which will expire on December 31, 2009. <br />All Aye. Motion carried. <br />Approve Resolution for Retirement of Ted Blaesing as Superintendent of ISD #624 WBL School <br />Board and Public Thank You <br />Mayor Fran Miron honored Superintendent Ted Blaesing who retired from the ISD #624 White Bear <br />Lake Area School District. Ted was hired in 1993 to oversee the day-to-day activities of the district <br />which now has 9,300 students and over 1,000 employees. He was also instrumental in the passage of <br />the 2003 bond referendum which was necessary for the construction of the Oneka Elementary School. <br />The Mayor praised him for his high ethical and professional standards and commended him for doing an <br />excellent job bringing the district out of debt and gaining the respect of the community. City <br />Administrator Mike Ericson read the resolution recognizing the retirement of Ted Blaesing as <br />Superintendent of ISD #624 White Bear Lake Area School District. <br />Miron made motion, Haas seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION 2008-28 RECOGNIZING THE <br />RETIREMENT OF TED BLAESING AS SUPERINTENDENT OF ISD #624 WHITE BEAR LAKE <br />AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT <br />Ayes: Petryk, Granger, Haas, Puleo, Miron <br />Nay: None <br />Motion carried. <br />Appearance from Representative of the Prindle Family <br />Jim Paal, friend of the Prindle Family, addressed the Council and thanked everyone on behalf of the <br />Prindle Family and asked that everyone keep the entire Prindle Family in their prayers. He commented <br />on the appreciation from the family on all the support they've received and Hugo was a wonderful, <br />incredible community. The Council assured him the community would continue to support the Prindle <br />family. <br />
