Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the purchase <br />of a 2008 Chevrolet Truck for Public Works Department and the transfer of the 2006 Chevrolet <br />truck to the Fire Department. <br />ACCEPT MNOSHA SAFETY GRANT AND APPROVE PURCHASE OF TRUCK <br />MOUNTED MAGNETIC MANHOLE COVER LIFTING DEVICE <br />In February 2008, Public Works staff applied for a MNOSHA Safety Grant for the purchase of a <br />truck mounted magnetic manhole cover lifting device. The City of Hugo was strongly <br />encouraged to purchase this device by the LMCIT and the City's loss control consultants to help <br />reduce/prevent back and other injuries. On March 6, 2008 the City was informed that it was <br />awarded a matching safety grant from MNOSHA for the purchase of the truck mounted magnetic <br />manhole cover lifting device. Staff seeks authorization from the City Council to accept the grant <br />award from MNOSHA in the amount of $1,717 and to authorize staff to purchase the truck <br />mounted magnetic manhole cover lifting device from AER Tech, Inc. at a price of $3,435. The <br />remaining funds to purchase this device will come from the general fund budget in the amount of <br />$1,718. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the acceptance of the MN OSHA Grant and <br />the purchase of truck mounted magnetic manhole cover lifting device <br />APPROVE AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR 2008 PUBLIC WORKS <br />SEASONAL POSITIONS <br />Included in the City's 2008 General Fund Budget, Council approved the hiring of five seasonal <br />employees this year. One of the seasonal employees from last year will be returning. Adoption <br />of the Consent Agenda approved the authorization to advertise for the hiring of four seasonal <br />employees for the public works department. <br />APPROVE MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE CONTRACT FOR CITY FACILITIES <br />The City's current mechanical maintenance contract for City facilities (City Hall, Fire Hall & <br />Public Works Facility) is set to expire at the end of March 2008. Staff solicited quotes for a 2 - <br />year mechanical maintenance contract for City Facilities. The City received five competitive <br />quotes for this 2 -year contract. City staff checked references for all companies that supplied <br />quotes and found them to be satisfactory. Pearson Mechanical Services, Inc. supplied the low <br />quote of $2,960 annually. Adoption of the Consent Agenda awarded the 2 -year mechanical <br />maintenance contract for City facilities to Pearson Mechanical Services, Inc. in the amount of <br />$2,960 annually. <br />APPROVE ADVERTISEMENT OF BID FOR 2008 GRAVELING PROJECT <br />Each year, the City of Hugo re -gravels a portion of its gravel roads. Staff seeks authorization <br />from the City Council to advertise for the 2008 graveling project. Bids would then be awarded <br />in May 2008 and work would take place during the month of July. Adoption of the Consent <br />Agenda approved the authorization for advertisement of bid for 2008 graveling project. <br />
