Hugo City Council Minutes for December 15, 2008 <br />Page 4 of 11 <br />Consent Agenda approved the reappointment of Dan Gabrielli to the Parks and Recreation Commission <br />for a three-year term to expire on December 31, 2011. <br />Approve Advertisement for Vacancy on Planning Commission <br />As Council is aware, in the recent municipal election Planning Commissioner Tom Weidt was elected as <br />Hugo Council Member at Large and will take office on January 1, 2009. His appointment to the City <br />Council by the citizens of Hugo has created a vacancy on the Planning Commission. Adoption of the <br />Consent Agenda approved authorization for staff to advertise for the Planning Commission vacancy <br />created by the election of Tom Weidt as the Council Member at Large on the Hugo City Council. <br />Approve Advertisement for Vacancy on Parks and Recreation Commission <br />As Council is aware, Pete Pedersen has retired from the Hugo Parks and Recreation Commission after <br />serving the citizens of Hugo for ten years. His retirement has left a vacancy on the Parks and Recreation <br />Commission. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved authorization for staff to advertise for the <br />Parks and Recreation Commission vacancy created by the retirement of Commissioner Pete Pedersen. <br />Approve Hire of Bob Bienek to the Hugo Fire Department as a Probationary Firefighter as a <br />Daytime Responder <br />Over the past several months, the Hugo Fire Department has been advertising for firefighters, focusing <br />on daytime response. Fire Chief Jim Compton is pleased to report that Bob Bienek has been interviewed <br />and passed background investigations. Along with the interview team, Fire Chief Compton is pleased to <br />recommend the appointment of Bob Bienek as probationary firefighter on the Hugo Fire Department. <br />Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the appointment of Bob Bienek to the Hugo Fire Department <br />as a probationary Firefighter as a daytime responder with the standard pre-employment physical. <br />Acceptance of Public Improvements Along Everton Ave. N. Relatinu to the Frenchman Place <br />Development <br />Pratt Homes, developer, has requested the City accept the newly constructed public improvements along <br />Everton Ave. N. relating to the Frenchman Place development. Acceptance of the improvements would <br />begin a one-year warranty period. At the end of one year, the project would be considered complete and <br />maintenance activities would become the responsibility of the City. The City would continue to hold the <br />Letter of Credit designated for this development. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the <br />acceptance of the public improvements along Everton Ave. N. relating to the Frenchman Place <br />development. <br />Approve Resignation of EDA Member Phil Klein from the Economic Development Authority (EDA) <br />City Administrator Mike Ericson added this item to the Consent Agenda. As Council is aware, in the <br />recent municipal election EDA Member Phil Klein was elected as Hugo Council Representative Ward 2 <br />and will take office on January 1, 2009. Phil Klein has been a member of the EDA since October 26, <br />2004. With his appointment to the City Council by the citizens of Hugo, Phil Klein has submitted his <br />resignation as a member on the EDA Commission. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approve the <br />resignation of Phil Klein from the EDA. <br />
