CITY OF HUGO - JOB DESCRIPTION <br />Position Title: Code Enforcement/Building Inspector <br />Department: Code Enforcement <br />Position Objective: To provide technical inspection services which <br />will assure the City building, plumbing, zoging, <br />and related codes and policies are efficiently, <br />effectively, and equitably enforced throughout the <br />City. <br />Duties and Responsibilities: <br />1. Assists with and reviews permit applications and accompanying <br />documents for completeness and accuracy. <br />2. Assists applicants, contractors, and others in interpreting, <br />understanding, and conforming to construction/zoning codes. <br />3. Reviews building and development plans involving all aspects of <br />construction for compliance with the applicable codes. <br />4. Reviews permit applications to assure that they accurately ref*lect <br />work anticipated and corrects inconsistencies when found therein. <br />5. Maintains daily inspection and related records in an up to date and <br />orderly fashion to expedite departmental record keeping procedures. <br />6. Investigates complaints filed with the City regarding construction and <br />zoning codes and takes appropriate action to secure correction of the <br />problem and transmits correction action to appropriate parties. <br />7. Routinely travels throughout the City and takes necessary corrective <br />action when code violations are observed. <br />S. Investigates and collects data regarding problems, involving private <br />sewers, water systems, zoning administration issues, and building <br />maintenance matters. <br />9. Keeps inspectors and other officials advised of significant <br />information necessary for satisfactory completion of departmental <br />affairs. Remains familiar with new materials, equipment, methods of <br />construction, and changes in the code to assure that the codes are <br />administered in a fair and effective manner. <br />10. Conducts inspections an all permitted construction work involving <br />building, mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems, in new <br />and existing structures to assure work is performed consistent with <br />applicable codes and ordinances. <br />11. Identifies and advises permittee of specific code deficiencies and <br />advises permittee of appropriate correction methods. <br />
