City Council meeting of May 21, 2007 <br />Page 4 <br />construction of a deck at 5712128' Street to be located 18' from the front property where a 30' setback <br />is required. <br />APPROVE ON -SALE BEER LICENSE FOR LATINO RODEO AT WOODLOCH STABLES <br />The City has received a license application from Carmen Guzman d/b/a Embajadora Latino for the <br />Latino rodeo scheduled for May 27, 2007 at Woodloch Stables. City staff has reviewed the request, <br />along with the necessary liquor liability insurance. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved a 3.2 on - <br />sale beer license for the Latino rodeo schedule for May 27, 2007 at the Woodloch Stables. <br />APPROVE RECOMMENDATION TO AUTHORIZE CITY ENGINEER/WSB TO PREPARE <br />PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR RICE LAKE SOCCER COMPLEX <br />On May 8, 2007, the Rice Lake Soccer Complex committee held its second meeting to discuss the <br />implementation efforts for the construction of the five -field soccer complex at Rice Lake Park. After <br />discussion, the implementation team agreed to recommend to the City Council that City Engineer Jay <br />Kennedy and WSB Engineers prepare the plans and specs for the Rice Lake soccer complex, in an <br />amount not to exceed $13,500. The plans and specs would utilize the engineering feasibility study <br />prepared by Stevens Engineering, more than two years ago, which provided for the site plan and <br />topographical mapping of 25 acres of upland. Adoption of the Consent Agenda authorized the City <br />Engineer and WSB Engineers to prepare plans and specs for the Rice Lake soccer complex in an amount <br />not to exceed $13,500. <br />APPROVE HIRING OF NATHANIEL BARNES AS SEASONAL SUMMER PUBLIC WORKS <br />WORKER <br />At its May 7, 2007 meeting, Council approved the hiring of five seasonal summer employees to assist in <br />the mowing and maintenance of City parks, buildings, grounds, boulevards and misc. tasks. <br />Unfortunately, one of the new hires accepted an internship, which was a requirement as part of his <br />undergraduate college course work, and will be unable to work for the City of Hugo. Adoption of the <br />Consent Agenda approved the hire of Nathaniel Barnes as a new summer seasonal public works worker. <br />APPROVE CHANGE IN STREET NAMES ON ELMCREST AVENUE/140TH STREET, SOUTH <br />OF VICTOR GARDENS <br />City staff is requesting that the Council approve a change in the name of a segment of 140'' Street south <br />of Victor Gardens. This %2 mile section of street causes confusion for postal workers, delivery drivers, <br />and the general public because it does not connect to 140' Street farther to the east, and the name of the <br />road changes to Elmcrest Avenue as it bends around the curve to the south. With Council direction, the <br />staff will post the proper street signs and will notify the appropriate agencies. Adoption of the Consent <br />Agenda approved a change in the street name from 140th Street to Elmcrest Avenue. <br />APPROVE FINAL PAY REQUEST FROM PULTE HOMES FOR CONSTRUCTION OF <br />ONEKA PARKWAY <br />The City received an amended final pay request from Pulte Homes for work completed on the <br />
