APPROVE ON -SALE BEER LICENSE FOR LATINO RODEO AT WOODLOCH STABLES The City has received a license application from Carmen Guzman d/b/a Embajadora Latino for the Latino rodeo scheduled for May 27, 2007 at Woodloch Stables. City staff has reviewed the request, along with the necessary liquor liability insurance. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved a 3.2 on - sale beer license for the Latino rodeo schedule for May 27, 2007 at the Woodloch Stables. APPROVE RECOMMENDATION TO AUTHORIZE CITY ENGINEER/WSB TO PREPARE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR RICE LAKE SOCCER COMPLEX On May 8, 2007, the Rice Lake Soccer Complex committee held its second meeting to discuss the implementation efforts for the construction of the five -field soccer complex at Rice Lake Park. After discussion, the implementation team agreed to recommend to the City Council that City Engineer Jay Kennedy and WSB Engineers prepare the plans and specs for the Rice Lake soccer complex, in an amount not to exceed $13,500. The plans and specs would utilize the engineering feasibility study prepared by Stevens Engineering, more than two years ago, which provided for the site plan and topographical mapping of 25 acres of upland. Adoption of the Consent Agenda authorized the City Engineer and WSB Engineers to prepare plans and specs for the Rice Lake soccer complex in an amount not to exceed $13,500. APPROVE HIRING OF NATHANIEL BARNES AS SEASONAL SUMMER PUBLIC WORKS WORKER At its May 7, 2007 meeting, Council approved the hiring of five seasonal summer employees to assist in the mowing and maintenance of City parks, buildings, grounds, boulevards and misc. tasks. Unfortunately, one of the new hires accepted an internship, which was a requirement as part of his undergraduate college course work, and will be unable to work for the City of Hugo. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the hire of Nathaniel Barnes as a new summer seasonal public works worker. APPROVE CHANGE IN STREET NAMES ON ELMCREST AVENUE/140TH STREET, SOUTH OF VICTOR GARDENS City staff is requesting that the Council approve a change in the name of a segment of 140'' Street south of Victor Gardens. This %2 mile section of street causes confusion for postal workers, delivery drivers, and the general public because it does not connect to 140' Street farther to the east, and the name of the road changes to Elmcrest Avenue as it bends around the curve to the south. With Council direction, the staff will post the proper street signs and will notify the appropriate agencies. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved a change in the street name from 140th Street to Elmcrest Avenue.
