Miron made motion, Granger seconded, directing City staff to participate in a focus group in regard to the future of the Mahtomedi school district, which has been scheduled for later in the year. DISCUSSION ON VIOLATION OF CONSTRUCTION OF DRIVEWAY AT 6192 147TH STREET (TODD CHRISTENSEN ) In September, 2006, the Todd Christensen, 6192 147`h Street North, had requested approval of a variance to locate a driveway adjacent to the property line where ordinance requires a minimum edge clearance of five feet, and a variance for a width of 32 feet where a maximum of 24 feet is permitted by ordinance. The expanded driveway was noticed by the building official while investigating a complaint about the location of the storage shed. The shed is located to the rear of the home within the drainage and utility easement and approximately two feet from the side property line. The applicant has indicated he would move the shed to comply with City Code. On January 2, 2007, the City Council recommended denial of the variance and gave the applicant until September 1, 2007 to bring the driveway into compliance. On September 5, 2007, staff conducted a site inspection of the property and found the shed had not been removed and no improvements were done to the driveway as required by the City Council. Staff sent a letter to the applicant advising him the driveway and shed be brought into compliance by September 28, 2007. A follow-up inspection was conducted on October 1, 2007 and found the property not in compliance. CD Director Bryan Bear stated that Mr. Christensen has failed to appear at Planning Commission/Council meetings to discuss his variance application. Granger made motion, Petryk seconded, directing the City Attorney to send a final letter to Todd Christensen stating the need for him to complete the variance application process and that he be present at said meetings to answer any/all City questions. If Mr. Christenson does not comply in a timely manner, the City Attorney shall proceed with legal action. All aye. Motion Carried. INVITATION TO ATTEND WBL SCHOOL LEVY MEETING OF OCTOBER 23, 2007 AT 7:00 PM AT ONEKA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL City staff received notification from the WBL School Board that a school levy meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 7:00 pm at the Oneka Elementary School in order to provide information to parents and volunteers on the upcoming levy referendum scheduled for November 6, 2007. City staff has been requested to invite attendance by the Hugo City Council to this very important meeting. No formal City Council action was taken.
