City Council meeting of March 20, 2006 <br />Page 3 <br />2006 budget. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the letter of support, which has been drafted by <br />the Washington County Fire Chiefs' Association, for the purpose of soliciting a Homeland Security <br />grant for 800 mghz radios. <br />APPROVE RESOLUTION PROMOTING USE OF INTRASTATE MUTUAL AID <br />AGREEMENTS <br />State and local public safety jurisdictions have been requested to approve a resolution that recognizes <br />and promotes the establishment and utilization of intrastate mutual—aid agreements. This agreement is <br />used during large scale events such as Natural Disasters, allowing cities to receive assistance form <br />outside of their normal mutual aid agreements between neighboring departments. The HFD prepared an <br />Intrastate Mutual Aid Agreement, which is recommended for approval. Adoption of the Consent <br />Agenda adopted Resolution 2006-12 promoting the use of intrastate mutual aid agreements. <br />APPROVE ADVERTISEMENT OF BID FOR 2006 GRAVELING CONTRACT <br />Each year, the City of Hugo re -gravels a portion of its gravel roads with 4" of new aggregate. Staff seeks <br />authorization from the City Council to advertise for the 2006 graveling project. Bids would then be <br />awarded in May 2006 and work would take place during the month of June. Adoption of the Consent <br />Agenda authorized advertisement of bid for 2006 gravel project. <br />APPROVE ADVERTISEMENT OF BID FOR 2006 SEAL COATING AND CRACK FILLING <br />Each year, the City of Hugo seal coats and crack fills a portion of its bituminous roads. The City of Hugo <br />has been following a 6 -year seal coating and crack filling plan for all of its bituminous roads that qualify for <br />this level of maintenance. Staff seeks authorization from the City Council to advertise for the 2006 seal <br />coating and crack filling project. Bids would then be awarded in May 2006 and work would take place <br />during June and July. Adoption of the Consent Agenda authorized advertisement of bid for 2006 seal <br />coating and crack filling project. <br />APPROVE HIRE OF 2006 SUMMER SEASONAL EMPLOYEES <br />Each year, the City of Hugo hires seasonal employees to assist the Public Works Department with <br />summer maintenance. This year, three summer seasonal employees wish to return from last year. <br />Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the re -hiring of Dan LaCasse, Ryan O'Grady and Ryan <br />McCullough for the 2006 season and compensates them in accordance with the 2006 seasonal pay scale <br />as adopted by Council. <br />APPROVE PURCHASE OF GPS UNIT <br />City staff has identified the need to purchase a Global Positioning System (GPS). The GPS unit will be <br />used by the Engineering and Public Works Departments. This unit will be used to locate and map <br />coordinates of the City's infrastructure including: street signs, gate valves, curb stops, fire hydrants, <br />manholes, catch basins, and other City -owned structures. Finance Director, Ron Otkin, confirmed that <br />funds are available in the Public Works and Engineering General Fund Budgets for this purchase. <br />
