City Council meeting of April 17, 2006 <br />Page 4 <br />DISCUSSION ON APRIL 18, 2006 COUNCIL WORKSHOP ON RURAL & OPEN SPACE <br />PRESERVATION ORDINANCE <br />At its April 3, 2006, Council scheduled a workshop for April 18, 2006 at 9:00 am, to discuss the <br />currently rural and open space preservation ordinance, approved in 2005 after more than 2 'h years of <br />task force work and public input. Council member Chuck Haas met with officers of the Sunset Lake <br />Homeowner's Association, at which President Jim Laumer requested a different time at which Council <br />would hold its workshop to accommodate citizens who work during the day. CD Bryan Bear and City <br />Administrator Mike Ericson spoke with President Laumer on Thursday, April 6, 2006, when he <br />reiterated his request and staff informed him that they would place it on the next Council agenda for <br />discussion. City staff requested direction from Council as to the scheduled Council workshop on April <br />18, 2006 at 9:00 am. As this was a noticed meeting, Council agreed that they should conduct the <br />workshop as scheduled and staff schedule a "listening session" with residents at a later date. <br />Miron made motion, Haas seconded, directing staff to schedule a neighborhood meeting to discuss the <br />rural and open space ordinance. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />DISCUSSION ON APRIL 30.2006 HUGO KIDZ `N BIZ FEST PUBLIC NOTICE MEETING <br />REQUIREMENT <br />On Sunday, April 30, 2006, the Hugo Business Association and the Hugo EDA will hold their second <br />annual Kids `n Biz Fest at the Hugo American Legion. <br />Puleo made motion, Petryk seconded, to schedule a City Council meeting for Sunday, April 30, 2006, <br />1:00 pm, at the Hugo American Legion, to allow Council attendance at the 2"d annual Kidz `n Biz Fest. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />REVIEW CONCEPT PLAN FOR MULTI -FEEDER INC FOR BUILDING IN BEIP <br />City staff met with representatives from Multi -Feeder, Inc., for the past several months for construction <br />of a building in the BEIP. The applicant has requested an opportunity to appear before Council to <br />present his concept plan for a 34,000 sq ft building on property currently owned by Minnesota Union <br />Builders, which went into foreclosure and has entered into a purchase agreement for the sale of the <br />seven -acre parcel of land immediately adjacent to the former MN Union Builders building. CD Director <br />Bryan Bear provided a brief presentation outlining the proposed site development, and need for a <br />number of variances. Multi -Feeder owner, Neil Nordling, addressed Council with a history of the <br />business, as well as the product. Council provided formal and nonbinding comments on the concept <br />plan for construction of the new Multi -Feeder Inc. building in the BEIP. <br />Miron made motion, Haas seconded, directing staff and the Planning Commission to review City setback <br />requirements and consider a possible text amendment. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />
