City Council meeting of May 15, 2006 <br />Page 3 <br />APPROVE MELROSE PYROTECHNICS FIREWORKS DISPLAY AT GOOD NEIGHBOR <br />DAYS, CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION, AND WILSON TOOL PICNIC <br />As Council is aware, the Hugo Centennial Commission has been meeting for more than a year planning <br />for the Centennial Celebration to commemorate the City's 100'h birthday. The Commission agreed that <br />a fireworks display would be the best way to celebrate the 100th birthday of Hugo on August 15, 2006. <br />Staff contacted Melrose Pyrotechnics Fireworks to provide a fireworks display for the event. As Council <br />is aware, MPF was the company that provided the fireworks display for the time as Good Neighbor Days <br />in 2005. The company has also been contracted with to provide fireworks again for GND in 2006, as <br />well as Wilson Tool's 40'h anniversary celebration on August 5, 2006. Adoption of the Consent Agenda <br />approved the contract with Melrose Pyrotechnics Fireworks Display for fireworks displays at Good <br />Neighbor Days, the Centennial Celebration on August 15, 2006, and Wilson Tool's 40th Anniversary <br />celebration on August 5, 2006. <br />APPROVE AMENDMENT TO PERSONNEL POLICY FOR PW WORKING HOURS <br />PW Director Chris Petree and City Administrator Mike Ericson have been discussing working hours for <br />the public works employees for the past few months. In an effort to provide a higher level of service, in- <br />crease efficiency, reduce over time, and decrease employee time off requests, staff has requested an <br />amendment to the City's personnel policy to allow the public works department to work four 10 -hour <br />shifts from April 1" through September 30'h, annually. The schedule would be split to insure 50% of the <br />employees working on Mondays and Fridays, and 100% on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. <br />This amendment would benefit the City in those aforementioned ways. Adoption of the Consent Agenda <br />approved the following amendment to the City's Personnel Policy under Section 6.0, Work Hours that <br />the public works employees work four 10 -hour days, April 1" through September 30'h, with regular work <br />days from October 0 through March 31 S'. <br />APPROVE AMENDED AND RESTATED RUSH LINE CORRIDOR JOINT POWERS <br />AGREEMENT <br />In February 2006, Council reviewed a joint powers agreement for the Rush Line Corridor Task Force. <br />Since that time, the draft JPA has been revised by Ramsey County staff to address issues in three areas, <br />including funding, corridor/county population, and executive committee. Adoption of the Consent <br />Agenda approved adoption of Resolution 2006-23 approving the amended and restated Joint Powers <br />Agreement for the Rush Line Corridor Task Force. <br />APPROVE TEMPORARY 3.2 BEER LICENSE FOR EMBAJADORE LATINO/HISPANIC <br />RODEO ON MAY 28.2006 <br />Annually, Woodloch Stables hosts the EmBajadore Latino/Hispanic rodeo. The association has made <br />application to the City for a 3.2 temporary beer license. City staff has reviewed the application and <br />found it to be satisfactorily complete, along with receipt of the certificate of insurance for liquor liability, <br />naming the City as an additional insured. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the temporary 3.2 <br />beer license for the Hispanic Rodeo to be held May 28, 2006 at Woodloch Stables. <br />
