City Council meeting of April 4, 2005 <br />Page 7 <br />member Granger suggested that Chris talk to Washington County in an effort to get assistance for road <br />maintenance. <br />Miron made motion, Haas seconded, authorizing City staff to advertise for bids for 2005 seal coating <br />and crack filling projects. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />UPDATE ON TH61 AND 136' STREET TRAFFIC SIGNAL <br />In October 2004, Council held a neighborhood meeting at the Hugo Fire Hall with residents living near <br />the intersection of TH61 and 130°i Street. Specifically, City staff provided residents with the <br />specifications included in the City's application for cooperative agreement funding from MnDOT. Rick <br />Arnebeck, MnDOT area manager, was present and discussed with residents the warrants under which <br />the signal would be evaluated. City Engineer Jay Kennedy received official notification from MnDOT <br />that the City's cooperative agreement funding application was unsuccessful for 2005. Jay provided <br />Council with an update on this issue. Council member Granger encouraged staff to work on alternative <br />ways to make the intersection safer. No formal Council action was taken on this matter. <br />DRAFT LETTER FOR APPOINTMENTS TO THE CENTENNIAL COMMISSION <br />At a joint meeting with the Historical Commission on Monday, March 28, 2005, Council voted <br />unanimously directing staff to draft a letter to invite City participation on the Hugo Centennial <br />Commission. Members of both the Commission and Council agreed that the creation of the new <br />Commission is necessary to begin planning for the centennial on August 15, 2006. A list of possible <br />clubs, groups, organizations, commissions, and citizens was provided in a staff memorandum. <br />Puleo made motion, Granger seconded, to approve the draft letter and set a deadline of May 15, 2005 to <br />accept volunteers to serve on the Centennial Commission. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />SCHEDULE COUNCIL WORKSHOP FOR DOWNTOWN DESIGN GUIDELINES <br />At its February 22, 2005 meeting, Council approved an agreement with Landform to develop <br />Downtown Design Guidelines. Landform is developing a schedule to gather input from the Council <br />and public. At the workshop, Landform will present a draft of the guidelines for consideration and <br />comment by the City Council, prior to gathering public input. <br />Haas made motion, Granger seconded, to schedule a Council workshop for Friday, May 20, 2005, from <br />8:30 am to 10:30 am, to discuss downtown design guidelines. <br />All aye.
