City Council meeting of April 18, 2005 <br />Page 5 <br />APPROVE PROBATIONARY PERIOD FOR EILEEN OTTNEY AND APPOINTMENT AS <br />REGULAR EMPLOYEE <br />Eileen Ottney was hired by the City on October 18, 2004 as the new building department receptionist. <br />Over the past six months, Eileen has worked very hard and established herself as a cheerful and <br />committed member of the City Hall team. She has done an excellent job in learning this new position <br />and establishing ways to make the building department more efficient. She is well liked and well <br />respected by her coworkers and is a great addition to the City Hall team. Adoption of the Consent <br />Agenda approved the probationary period and appointment as regular employee for Eileen Ottney. <br />APPROVE ANNUAL PERFORMANCE REVIEW FOR FINANCE DIRECTOR RON OTKIN <br />Ron Otkin was hired by the City on April 3, 1989. For the past sixteen years, Ron has worked as the <br />City's Finance Director and accomplished a great deal for the City. He has completed many significant <br />projects and earned his I I'h GFOA award in 2004. Ron has earned the respect of staff and Council and <br />achieved for the City an astounding Moody's bond rating increase from A3 to A 1 for 2004. Ron is a <br />hard worker, who is conscientious and dependable. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the <br />annual performance review for Finance Director Ron Otkin. <br />APPROVE ANNUAL PERFORMANCE REVIEW FOR BUILDING INSPECTOR GARY <br />SCHWARTZ <br />Gary Schwartz was hired by the City on April 15, 2002. Over the past three years, Gary has worked as <br />the City's building inspector on a wide -variety of building types and commercial developments. Gary <br />is conscientious and dependable and is well respected by the contractors. Gary is an excellent team <br />member of the building department. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the annual <br />performance review for Building Inspector Gary Schwartz. <br />APPROVE REAPPOINTMENT OF PETE PEDERSEN TO A THREE-YEAR TERM ON THE <br />PARKS COMMISSION <br />Pete Pedersen has served on the Parks Commission since its creation in 1997. Over the past nine years, <br />Pete has worked hard to establish the City's Park Master Plan and creation and development of parks in <br />the City. As Vice Chair, he involves himself at a participation level and leadership position on the <br />Commission. Pete desires reappointment for a three-year term on the Parks Commission. Adoption of <br />the Consent Agenda approved the reappointment of Pete Pedersen for a three-year term on the Parks <br />Commission, to expire on March 31, 2008. <br />APPROVE APPOINTMENT OF SCOTT BALLER AS BUILDING INSPECTOR INTERN <br />At its March 21, 2005 meeting, CD Director Bryan Bear shared with Council the department's efforts to <br />ensure proper staffing levels for 2005. Staff informed Council that it was planning to interview two <br />applicants for an internship in the building department. On April 12, 2005, City staff conducted <br />interviews with two applicants for the intern position. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved <br />appointment of Scott Baller as the building inspector intern for a period not to exceed six months, <br />starting April 19, 2005, at a rate of $10/hr. <br />
