City Council meeting of May 2, 2005 <br />Page 5 <br />APPROVE HIRING OF THREE SEASONAL PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEES <br />Earlier this spring, Council authorized PW Director Chris Petree to advertise for three summer seasonal <br />public works employees. Included in the City's 2005 budget, Chris budgeted for four, with Dan LaCasse <br />returning for summer seasonal work. On April 28-29, 2005, 15 interviews were conducted out of 36 <br />who applied to the City. City staff recommended Council approve the hiring of Ryan O'Grady, Ryan <br />McCullough, and Craig Lauzon as summer seasonal employees at a rate of $10.50/hour. <br />APPROVE RESIGNATION OF TAD ROEMELING FROM THE HUGO FIRE DEPT. <br />The City received a letter of resignation from Tad Roemeling from the Hugo Fire Department effective <br />on April 26, 2005 due to relocation. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the resignation of Tad <br />Roemeling from the HFD effective on April 26, 2005. <br />APPROVE TEMPORARY ON -SALE 3.2 BEER LICENSE FOR RODEO REY AT <br />WOODLOCH STABLES <br />Carmen Guzman applied for a temporary on -sale 3.2 beer license on behalf of Embajadora Latina for <br />Rodeo Rey Hispanic Rodeo to be held at Woodloch Stables on May 29, 2005 and August 4, 2005. <br />Embajadora Latina has held this event successfully at Woodloch Stables for the past two years. City <br />staff reviewed the applications, along with the liquor liability insurance, and found them be satisfactorily <br />complete. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the temporary on -sale 3.2 beer license for Rodeo <br />Rey for May 29, 2005 and August 4, 2005. <br />APPROVAL OF CLAIMS <br />Council member Puleo questioned the $7,899.50 claim from WSB Engineers for City standards and <br />specifications. City Engineer advised Council that the claim is for updating the City's construction <br />guidelines and providing a new set of spec books for developers. <br />Puleo made motion, Petryk seconded, to approve the claims for May 2, 2005 as presented. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />APPROVE AWARD OF BID FOR LANDSCAPING MATERIALS FOR BEAVER PONDS <br />PARKS <br />In the fall of 2004, the Parks Commission approved the landscaping plan for Beaver Ponds Park, <br />including the planting of more than 100 shrubs and trees. Over the past winter, Boy Scout Eric Korlin <br />approached the City regarding a project for his Eagle Scout award. Eric is responsible for soliciting and <br />receiving bids for all trees and shrubs, coordinating the delivery, and installation of product by June <br />2005. Bids were received by the City and opened on Friday, April 22, 2005. Scout Korlin needs to have <br />the project completed by June 1, 2005 due to an Eagle Scout age requirement. Public Works Director <br />Chris Petree reviewed the project with Council and stated that a new bid was received a week after the <br />April 22"d bid opening, and was $85 below the lowest bid. City Attorney Dave Snyder advised Council <br />to award the bid to the lowest "timely" bidder or rebid the project. Council discussed size and quality of <br />
