To date, staff has <br />received a total of ten individuals who wish to serve on the Commission. <br />Miron made motion, Petryk seconded, to table selection of the Centennial Commission until the meeting <br />of June 6, 2005, to allow additional time for interested individuals to contact City staff. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />PROPOSED PURCHASE OF OLD ANTIQUE STORE (MIKE/CATHERINE ANDERSON) <br />On May 5, 2005, the TIF Subcommittee held its first meeting in order to discuss the creation of a new <br />TIF district, as well as to discuss the proposed purchase of the old antique store. Committee members <br />agreed to recommend to Council the purchase of the store under the previous terms and conditions of the <br />Purchase Agreement, which -had been drafted and directed to Mike and Catherine -Anderson several <br />months ago. On April 26, 2005, the Washington County Board accepted the Community Advisory <br />Committee's recommendation for the allocation of CDBG grant funds, of which the City's grant <br />applications were not approved. <br />Granger made motion, Haas seconded, directing staff to finalize details of a Purchase Agreement to <br />acquire the antique store owned by Mike and Catherine Anderson. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />PROPOSED PURCHASE OF HOUSE A 14625 FOREST BOULEVARD (JIM POWELL) <br />Several months ago, City staff was approached by the property owner at 14625 Forest Boulevard, who is <br />interested in selling his house and property to the City. After two more meetings, the couple confirmed <br />their strong interest to sell their house and property to the City. The couple paid for a certified appraisal <br />of their property, of which they desire to sell their house at the appraised price. City staff made a site <br />inspection visit on May 12, 2005 and reported that the house was in very good condition and very <br />rentable. <br />Haas made motion, Granger seconded, directing City staff seeks to finalize a purchase agreement to <br />acquire the Jim Powell residence at 14625 Forest Blvd. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />DISCUSSION OF SUBDIVISION AND RURAL & OPEN SPACE PRESERVATION <br />ORDINANCES <br />At its May 2, 2005 meeting, Council tabled discussion on this item at the request of Council member <br />Frank Puleo. Council member Puleo has received inquiries from several residents who want to develop <br />their property in the rural area of Hugo and do not meet the terms and conditions of the ordinance. The <br />properties in question abut the MUSA of the City, which means that property in the MUSA can be <br />divided into 10,400 sq ft lots and the rural property would consist of 10 -acre parcels. The only way to <br />subdivide to a smaller lot would be to apply for a variance, but CD Director Bryan Bear stated that there <br />
