City Council meeting of January 5, 2004 <br />Page 5 <br />about his volunteer service on the PC. Since that time, Ron has expressed his interest in remaining on <br />the PC. Adoption of the Consent Agenda reappointed Ron McRoberts to a 3 -year term on the PC. <br />APPROVE ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION TO CERTIFY PAST DUE UTILITY BILLS <br />Each year at this time, the City Council considers delinquent utility bills. Adoption of the Consent <br />Agenda adopted Resolution 2004-2 certifying the placement of delinquent utility bills on the property <br />tax rolls for payment in 2004. <br />APPROVE APPOINTMENT OF VICTORIA HOFFBECK AS NEW PLANNING <br />COMMISSIONER <br />On Monday, December 29, 2003, the Council and PC Chair Dave Schumann interviewed four <br />candidates for the position of Planning Commissioner. The City received notification from the fifth <br />applicant that he was unable to attend the meeting, but he emailed answers to the questions, which <br />were asked of all applicants. Mayor Fran Miron stated that he was pleased with the excellent quality <br />of applicants all wanting to volunteer in the City. Adoption of the Consent Agenda appointed Victoria <br />Hofrbeck as the new Planning Commissioner for a three-year term, replacing long-time Planning <br />Commissioner Teddy Peltier. <br />APPROVE INSPECTION AGREEMENT WITH STATE BLDG OFFICIAL FOR PUBLIC <br />BUILDINGS AND STATE LICENSE FACILITIES <br />Building Official John Benson received an inspection agreement from the State of Minnesota to <br />provide for inspection services for public buildings and state license facilities. This agreement would <br />allow the City to proceed with the use of a state building official for the new elementary school and the <br />new senior assisted living facility next to the Post Office. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved <br />the inspection agreement with the State Building Official. <br />APPROVE SUPPLEMENTAL LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR <br />BALD EAGLE LAKE <br />For many years, the City has participated in supplemental law enforcement coverage on Bald Eagle <br />Lake. The coverage is from January 1 to December 31, 2004, and it includes a total not to exceed 160 <br />hours for winter patrol coverage. The cost of services to the City shall not exceed 25% of total <br />billings. Total billings for the 2004 winter patrol coverage will not exceed $5,600. Adoption of the <br />Consent Agenda approved the Supplemental Law Enforcement Agreement with the Ramsey County <br />Sheriffs Department for enforcement on Bald Eagle Lake. <br />APPROVE HFD CHAIN OF COMMAND STRUCTURE <br />Each year, the Hugo Fire Chief recommends a Chain of Command structure for the new year. Fire <br />Chief Jim Compton has submitted his 2004 HFD Chain of Command appointments. Adoption of the <br />Consent Agenda approved the 2004 HFD Chain of Command appointments. <br />
