City Council meeting of March 1, 2004 <br />Page 5 <br />UPDATE ON ONEKA LAKE OUTLET PROJECT <br />Pete Willenbring from WSB Engineers provided Council with an update on the Oneka Lake Outlet <br />project, as well as the status of various FEMA floodplain adjustments within the City. Pete noted that <br />1,000 feet of 18" pipe will be installed at a cost of $105,000. Funding of the project will be made from <br />trunk fees paid to the City. The project will allow the floodplain to be lowered 2 ft in the area. <br />(MAYOR FRAN MIRON ARRIVED AT 7:55 PM.) <br />Haas made motion, Petryk seconded, to authorize WSB Engineers to complete the final design survey, <br />plans, and specifications for the Oneka Lake outlet project. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />RECOGNITION OF ROBYN LACASSE FOR YEARS OF PUBLIC SERVICE AS PARKS <br />COMMISSION CHAIR <br />Robyn LaCasse was appointed by the Hugo City Council to the first ever Parks and Recreation <br />Commission in 1998 and was selected due to her active involvement in City issues and her strong <br />interest in parks. She was appointed as Chair in 2000, and has served in that leadership position since. <br />Under Robyn's leadership, the Commission has completed a number of projects, including: <br />completion of the Parks Master Plan in 1998; installation of playground equipment at Lions Park; <br />installation of playground equipment at Hugo Elementary School; purchase of the Bernin park <br />property; Beaver Ponds soccer field; and design and construction of many publiclprivate parks in the <br />Victor Gardens residential subdivision. In short, the City's park system is better because of Robyn's <br />volunteerism and strong leadership. On behalf of the City Council, Mayor Miron awarded a plaque to <br />Robyn in recognition of her years of public service and recognizing her for her many years of <br />volunteerism to the City of Hugo and its Parks and Recreation Commission. <br />Miron made motion, Petryk seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION 2004-7 RECOGNIZING ROBYN <br />LACASSE FOR HER SIX YEARS OF VOLUNTEERISM AND PUBLIC SERVICE ON THE <br />PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION. <br />VOTING AYE: Haas, Petryk, Puleo, Miron <br />Motion Carried. <br />RECOGNITION OF DAVE STRUB FOR YEARS OF PUBLIC SERVICE ON PARKS <br />COMMISSION <br />David Strub was appointed by the Hugo City Council to the Parks and Recreation Commission in 1998 <br />and was selected for service due to his active involvement in City issues and his strong interest in <br />parks. As a member of the Parks Commission, Dave was involved in a number of projects, including: <br />completion of the Parks Master Plan in 1999; installation of playground equipment at Lions Park; <br />installation of playground equipment at Hugo Elementary School; purchase of the Bernin park <br />property; Beaver Ponds soccer field; and design and construction of many public/private parks in the <br />Victor Gardens residential subdivision. In short, the City's park system is better because of Dave's <br />active participation on the Commission. City staff recommended Council award a plaque to Dave in <br />
