Council meeting of March 1, 2004 <br />Page 7 <br />maintenance of the roadside ditch along the north side of 165th Street, at a cost of approximately <br />$25,000. Option 2 would include limited clean out of the existing ditch along TH61, as well as <br />replacement of the culvert under the railroad right-of-way at a cost of $130,000. Option 3 would <br />undertake a comprehensive ditch cleanout and install a culvert under TH61 at a cost of $270,000. At <br />this time, there is no revenue source to pay for Options 2 and 3. <br />Haas made motion, Puleo seconded, directing staff to begin the steps necessary to implement Option 1 <br />and schedule a neighborhood meeting with affected property owners. Pete Willenbring shall seek <br />funding from the County and State and explore cost sharing with residents for Options 2 and 3. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />UPDATE ON JD2 CULVERT REPLACEMENT PROJECT AND MAINTENANCE REPAIR <br />A joint workshop with the RCWD Board of Managers was held on Friday, February 27, 2004 and <br />Monday, March 1, 2004, to discuss the JD 2 restoration project, proposed demonstration project and <br />JD 2 culvert issues. Pete Willenbring with WSB & Associates provided an overview of the <br />information that was discussed at the meeting, along with discussion and recommendations on where <br />to go from here regarding these projects. <br />Miron made motion, Haas seconded, to approve the draft Memorandum of Understanding after <br />changes are made by the City Attorney. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />Miron made motion, Puleo seconded, to approve the letter of clarification to the RCWD, with changes, <br />as drafted by Water Resource Engineer Pete Willenbring. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />CD DIRECTOR REPLACEMENT UPDATE <br />On Thursday, February 26, 2004, City Council members Mike Granger and Frank Puleo, City <br />Administrator Mike Ericson, and Administrative Intem Tom Denaway interviewed via video <br />conferencing, two out-of-state candidates for the position of CD Director. The results of those <br />interviews were shared with Council at its meeting on Monday, March 1, 2004. <br />Miron made motion, Puleo seconded, authorizing staff to schedule personal interviews for the two out- <br />of-state candidates. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />REQUEST FOR CUP FROM GENE'S DISPOSAL FOR RECYCLING CENTER <br />Gene Wegleitner of Gene's Disposal Service, Inc. has requested a Conditional Use Permit to allow a <br />recycling center and exterior storage and a variance from the paving requirements for the operation to be <br />
