Mayor Miron <br />stated that the Atkinson's do minimal mining of the stockpiled material and much of the property has <br />already been reclaimed. <br />Miron made motion, Granger seconded, to approve the two-year renewal of the Mining Permit for the <br />Atkinson gravel pit located at 147' Street and Irish Avenue. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />REVISED MASTER PLAN FOR RICE LAKE PARK (AUTHORIZE FOR FEASIBILITY <br />STUD <br />At its May 17, 2004, Council formed a committee to work with landscape architect Laurie McCrostie to <br />develop a master plan for the development of the 70 acres on the Rice Lake Park property. Laurie met <br />most recently with members of the Committee and presented a revised master plan, which reflects a <br />soccer field complex with five fields, expanded parking lot and playground area, the proposed trail <br />system, and future snowshoeing and cross country skiing trails into the 70 acres of land. PW Director <br />Chris Petree reviewed the proposed plan with Council. Council member Puleo inquired as to the space <br />availability for a horse trail and Council member Granger stated that there is not enough room. <br />Haas made motion, Puleo seconded, to approve the revised Master Plan for Rice Lake Park and <br />feasibility study, with topographical survey, to be provided by Stevens Engineers at a cost of $6,800 plus <br />reimbursable expenses. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />DISCUSS CITY OF HUGO INTERNSHIP PROGRAM <br />Included in Administrative Intern Tom Denaway's administrative duties, hired in January 2004, was the <br />completion of a formal City of Hugo internship program. Tom prepared a draft internship program, <br />which will allow the City and City staff to hire interns for both the CD Department as a planning intern, <br />as well as the Administration Department as an administrative intern, to assist City staff and department <br />heads with the day -today operations of the City. The proposed draft internship program provides <br />specific direction, as well as job duties and responsibilities, which would be assigned to the individual <br />who is seeking a future career in local government. Council member Petryk thanked Tom for his work. <br />Petryk made motion, Granger seconded, to approve the proposed City of Hugo internship program for all <br />future planning and administrative interns with the City. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />PROPOSED PURCHASE OF AMBULANCE FROM MAHTOMEDI FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />At its June 21, 2004 meeting, Council briefly discussed the offer from the Mahtomedi Fire Department <br />to sell its 1990 ambulance for $7,500. The Council took no official action on the ambulance but agreed <br />to support Fire Chief Jim Compton's request to begin the application process for BLS service, as <br />prescribed by the State.
