City Council meeting of September 7, 2004 <br />Page 5 <br />AWARD OF BID FOR 132ND STREET PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT PROJECT <br />At its August 2, 2004 meeting, Council authorized staff to proceed to advertise for the 132nd Street <br />public improvement project; specifically, Council authorized staff to accept bids for the paving of 132"d <br />Street. City Engineer Jay Kennedy, PW Director Chris Petree, and Senior Engineering Technician Scott <br />Anderson opened bids on August 27, 2004, with a total of three bidders on the project. Chris reviewed <br />with Council the bids, noting that the low bid was less than the engineer's estimate of $228,265. One <br />lift of bituminous will be applied before winter and the final lift after the winter season. Finance <br />Director Ron Otkin stated that the assessment hearing would probably be held sometime during the 2005 <br />summer months. <br />Granger made motion, Miron seconded, to award the bid for the 132°d Street public improvement project <br />to low bidder North Valley, Inc., in the amount of $198,820.50. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />PROPOSED LANDSCAPE ORDINANCE UPDATE <br />The Planning Commission expressed a desire to reexamine the landscaping requirements in the Land <br />Use Regulations. Staff met with Council member Puleo and Commissioner Malaski to identify <br />proposed changes and provided a summary of the proposed changes for Council review. <br />Miron made motion, Petryk seconded, Council directing staff to schedule a public hearing at the <br />Planning Commission regarding the proposed ordinance amendment. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />RURAL & OPEN SPACE COMMITTEE FINAL REPORT <br />At its meeting of August 18, 2004, the Rural and Open Space Committee met to discuss the issues <br />related to the final report for work of the committee over the past 1 % years. CD Director Bryan Bear <br />worked with committee chair, Chuck Haas, and other Committee members in order to reach a solution, <br />which was amenable to all committee members. <br />Miron made motion, Granger seconded, to schedule a joint Planning Commission and City Council <br />workshop for October 11, 2004, where the final committee recommendation will be presented. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />LETTER FROM WASHINGTON COUNTY REGARDING CSAH 8 AND VICTOR GARDEN <br />BLVD. <br />At its August 16, 2004 meeting, Council directed staff to send a letter to the Washington County <br />engineer regarding residents, who live in the Victor Gardens subdivision; specifically, Council requested <br />the county to consider the installation of traffic control improvements at the intersection of CSAH 8 and <br />
