Included in the School Board's discussion that night was whether a
bond referendum would be held in the fall for voters in the school district to decide whether or not a new
school would be constructed in Hugo. After discussion with school officials, and several stakeholder
meetings held over the past two years, it is time for the City of Hugo to determine what its desires and
expectations are of the K-5 elementary school. Specifically, should there be a need for an increased
gymnasium space or other amenities. City Administrator Mike Ericson solicited interest from Council
members to serve on a seven -member steering committee to begin the development of the referendum
process. Council member Haas volunteered to serve as the City Council representative on the
committee, with Council member Petryk volunteering to serve as the alternate.
