City Council meeting of January 22, 2002 <br />Page 5 <br />APPROVAL OF ZONING ORDINANCE <br />At its December 1, 2001 meeting, the Council held a joint workshop with the Planning Commission at <br />which it discussed the final draft of the zoning ordinance. CD Director John Rask reviewed with <br />Council the suggested revisions, as well as staffs recommendation for approval of the revised zoning <br />ordinance. To allow Council more time to review the proposed zoning ordinance: <br />Miron made motion, Petryk seconded, to table this matter until the Council meeting of February 4, 2002 <br />with placement on the Consent Agenda. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />JANUARY 11TH MEETING WITH WBL SCHOOL OFFICIALS <br />On Friday, January 11, 2002, Hugo City representatives met with WBL school officials, developers, and <br />local legislators regarding the new elementary school planned for the City north of CSAH 8. Council <br />member Chuck Haas and City Administrator Mike Ericson shared with Council the result of the <br />meeting, as well as the future plans for public involvement. The BKV group, architects working with <br />Len Pratt, prepared a concept plan that was presented to Council for review. <br />Granger made motion, Puleo seconded, directing staff to continue to meet with the appropriate officials <br />to continue the process, including the development of partnerships and coalitions within both <br />communities. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />AUTHORIZATION TO INSTALL 35 MPH SIGNS ON Ne STREET <br />Council directed staff to work with MnDOT officials to conduct a speed study on the newly reopened <br />14& Street, and the north side of Lake Plaisted. MnDOT completed the study and recommended <br />installation of 35 mph street signs on 14& Street. <br />Miron made motion, Haas seconded, authorizing staff to install the 35 mph street signs on 140' Street, <br />between CR 8 and Keystone Avenue and to inform the property owners. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />APPROVAL OF AUAR FOR EVERTON/ELMCREST AVENUES <br />As part of the approval process for the Everton/Elmcrest Avenue Study, WSB Engineers prepared the <br />AUAR that was sent to local agencies for review and comment. Those comments were shared with <br />Council in December and staff provided responses to all agencies. CD Director John Rask stated that <br />Met Council has concerns with the stormwater management plan for study. <br />Granger made motion, Petryk seconded, to table this matter to allow staff to work with Met Council to <br />resolve issues. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />
