City Council meeting of March 18, 2002
Page 6
RECOMMENDATION TO APPROVE CANDIDATE TO SERVE ON PARKS COMMISSION
On Monday, March 18, 2002, interviews were held to select a new candidate to serve on the Parks
Commission. There were two other candidates who removed themselves from the final interviews due
to conflicts in personal schedules. The interview team of Council member Chuck Haas, Parks
Commission Chair Robyn LaCasse, and City Administrator Mike Ericson, interviewed Steven Andress
and Jennifer May. Although both candidates were considered very capable, the interview team
recommended Council appoint Jennifer May as the new member of the Parks Commission.
11aas made motion, Puleo seconded, to appoint Jennifer May to fill the current vacancy on the City's
Parks Commission. Staff will notify both candidates of the Council's decision.
All aye. Motion Carried.
JD2 BLUE RIBBON TASK FORCE
Council member Puleo felt the task force was falling behind schedule and should meet to determine
why. The meeting should be held at the new City Hall. He also felt it important that the City have a
technical advisor present at this meeting. Mayor Miron advised the Council that maintenance has been
done on JD2, but not to his satisfaction.
Miron made motion, Haas seconded, directing staff to schedule another JD2 Blue Ribbon Task Force
meeting at the City's new City Hall.
Miron made motion, Haas seconded, amending the previous motion to include that the City's Water
Resource Engineer, Pete Willenbring, also be requested to attend the meeting.
VOTE ON AMENDMENT: All aye. Motion Carried.
VOTE ON ORIGINAL MOTION: All aye. Motion Carried.
PUBLIC WASTE COLLECTION
Mayor Miron attended the Town Meeting held by Representative Ray Vandeveer where he met with
local refuse haulers. They felt that the City should take a stronger stand on their refuse hauling position
and pass a more formal resolution.
Miron made motion, Haas seconded, directing staff to draft a resolution for Council consideration at its
meeting of April 1, 2002.
All aye. Motion Carried.
CITY HALL UPDATE
Council member Puleo wanted to make sure that funds would be available to make miscellaneous City
Hall purchases that may arise, e.g. plants, clocks. City Administrator Mike Ericson stated that the new
City Hall budget was comfortably under budget to cover any additional purchases.
