City Council meeting of May 6, 2002 <br />Page 5 <br />2002 GRAVELING CONTRACT <br />At its March 18, 2002 meeting, Council authorized staff to advertise for bids for the 2002 -graveling <br />contract. Public Works Director Chris Petree opened three bids on April 25, 2002. <br />Miron made motion, Haas seconded, to award the low bid for the 2002 -graveling contract to Dresel <br />Trucking, Inc., in the amount of $7.05/ton for a total estimated cost of $75,250.70. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />2002 CRACK FILLING CONTRACT <br />At its April 15, 2002 meeting, the Council authorized staff to advertise for bids for the 2002 crack -filling <br />contract. <br />Granger made motion, Petryk seconded, to award the crack -filling contract to Bergman Corporation, in <br />the amount of $13,860. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />APPROVAL FINAL PURCHASE AGREEMENT FOR BERNIN PROPERTY (DNR GRANT <br />AWARD) <br />At its March 4, 2002 meeting, the Council's offer of $752,000 for their 21 -acre parcel of land was <br />accepted by the Berlins. Council directed staff to consider the valuation of the Christmas trees and <br />include their reuse by the City and limited public use of a portion of the land in the final purchase <br />agreement. Staff met recently with Bruce and Ginny Bernin after they returned from their winter <br />vacation and ironed out the final details, which have been accepted by both attorneys. Staff was pleased <br />to present the final purchase agreement for the Bertin property for a public acceptance by the Bernin <br />family along with a presentation of the $305,000 grant from the MnDNR who are the past -through <br />agency for the funds. The grant funds are actually from the LCMR legislative commission on <br />management resources and are actually proceeds from the lottery funds. Audrey Mularie from the DNR, <br />along with George Anderson, Hugo resident and director of the Minnesota lottery, and Robyn LaCasse <br />and Pete Pedersen, members of the Parks Commission, presented the check to the Hugo City Council for <br />acceptance. <br />Granger made motion, Petryk seconded, to approve the final Purchase Agreement for the Bernin <br />property in the amount of $752,000 and a ten-year lease back to the Bertin family in the amount of <br />$89,000. <br />VOTING AYE: Granger, Petryk, Puleo, Miron <br />ABSTAINED: Chuck Haas <br />Motion Carried. <br />
