City Council meeting of August 5, 2002 <br />Page 12 <br />Pratt, Tom Bina, and John Waller. Because of the absence of Council member Mike Granger. <br />Haas made motion, Puleo seconded, to table this issue until the Council meeting on August 19, 2002. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />SCHEDULE CITY CANDIDATE DEBATE <br />The League of Women Voters requested permission from the City to hold a fall candidate election forum <br />at the Hugo City Hall in the Council chambers. Since this very important public service fimction is <br />important to the City, City staff recommended Council approve the League of Women Voters use of the <br />Council chambers to conduct the candidates' debate forum. It was suggested that the forum be held <br />sometime in October 2002. No formal Council action was taken. <br />SELECTION OF RAINWATER GARDEN LOGO <br />In cooperation with Metropolitan Council as part of the City's $50,000 grant for its rainwater garden <br />project, Met Council staff suggested three different logos to be used on exterior signage to describe the <br />rainwater garden project. Council should review the logos and select one that would be used on exterior <br />signage. City staff reviewed the logos and recommended Council select logo #3. <br />Haas made motion, Miron seconded, to select Logo #3 subject to the "d" in garden be changed. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />MEETING WITH HUGO AMERICAN LEGION ON FIRE <br />The Council held an emergency meeting on July 22, 2002 with the representative of the Hugo American <br />Legion to discuss the. fire that destroyed the Legion Hall. The legion has had use of City Hall for <br />meetings, and effort has been made to accommodate their needs. They will need to have a proposal <br />ready for the Council meeting of September 3, 2002 if they are to be eligible for TIF fiends. <br />EXTENSION OF SANITARY SEWER FROM PELOOUIN INDUSTRIAL PARK <br />Two Council members requested an explanation from staff regarding a previous Council's decision not <br />to extend sanitary sewer beyond the Peloquin Industrial Park. project. City Engineer Dave Mitchell and <br />City Administrator Mike Ericson provided a brief explanation of the previous Council's decision as to <br />not extend sanitary sewer beyond the Peloquin Industrial Park project. If they would like sewer <br />extended north, they would need to petition the City. <br />LCMR GRANT APPROVED FOR HARDWOOD CREEK PROJECT <br />Steve Hobbs, the administrator for the RCWD, announced that the Hardwood Creek improvement <br />project was included in the final package approved by the Minnesota Legislative Commission on master <br />resource in the amount of 51.2 million dollars. Steve stated that everyone should feel good that the <br />project got 63% of the finding that was asked for, which was $2.1 million dollars. He stated that a <br />
