City Council meeting of February 5, 2001 <br />Page 10' <br />SELECT CONSULTANT -FOR CHARRETTEtMIONING PROCESS <br />At its January 16, 2001 meeting, the Council selected a committee to review the five proposals <br />submitted to the City for conducting a chanette/visioning process for the City. Committee members: <br />Council_members.CWckliaas_wslBecky Petryk; Planning Commissian_ haizDnYe S n; <br />Community Development Director John Rask; local citizen Tim Agness; and City Administrator Mike <br />Ericson paired the five proposals downto two, and conducted an interview of the successfid finalists. <br />'Me committee recommended that the Council approve the selection of the joint team of SRF and HGA <br />as the'firms for conducting the City's charrette/visioning process. SRF and HGA are two well-known <br />landscape and engineering firms who have. the experience and personnel to conduct a thorough and <br />involved process for determining the future vision for the City. <br />Munn made motion, Haas seconded, to accept the committee's recommendation and approve the <br />selection of the joint team of SRF and HGA as the firms for conducting the City's charrette/visioning <br />process. . <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />RECOMMENDATION TO PURCHASE HOUSE A 14665 FITZGERALD AVENUE <br />In October 2000, the Council voted 4-1 to locate the new City Hall on the property directly east of the <br />current City Hall. Council authorized staff to negotiate for the purchase of the Rainer, Steiner, and <br />Williams's property. At a subsequent meeting, the Council authorized staff to expand its negotiation to <br />include the two homes owned by the Marler brothers located immediately south of the site. In <br />November 2000, the Council agreed and directed staff to proceed with the acquisition of the Steiner and <br />Williams's properties, and one of the two homes owned by the Marier brothers. Staff negotiated with <br />Don Kohler, an attorney representing. the Steiners, and reached a purchase agreement for the property. <br />On this day (2/5/01), the City received notification that Mr. Kohler had been dismissed as their attorney, <br />as well as a new proposal from their new attorney itemizing 17 items to be addressed relative to the sale <br />of the Steiners' property. Staff was hot prepared to comment on the new proposal because of the late <br />arrival. Because of previous action taken this evening regarding the new City Hall: <br />Miran made motion, Haas seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION 2001-04 A RESOLUTION <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO COMMENCE THE USE OF EM RENT DOMAIN <br />PROCEEDINGS FOR THE PROPERTY AT 14665 FITZGERALD AVENUE.
