City Council meeting of April 2, 2001 <br />Page 4 of 9 <br />The Council thanked the Northrops for the approximately 7,000 cubic yards of dirt from the site that <br />the applicant had agreed to move, at no cost to the City, and deposit at the new City Hall site and the <br />Sweet Grass Meadows ditch project. <br />AWARD OF BID FOR WATER TOWER #3 <br />At its February 5, 2001 meeting, the Hugo City Council directed City Engineer Dave Mitchell to <br />prepare plans and specifications and to advertise for bids for the construction of water tower #3. On <br />Thursday, March 29, 2001, staff opened bids for construction of water tower #3 and the low bidder <br />for the project was Landmark Construction, at a low bid of $1,346,000.00. <br />Granger made motion, Miron seconded, to award the contract for the project to Landmark <br />Construction at the low bid of $ 1,346,000.00. <br />All aye. Motion carried. <br />AWARD OF BID FOR PUMP HOUSE #3 <br />At its February 5, 2001 meeting, the Hugo City Council directed City Engineer Dave Mitchell to <br />prepare plans and specifications and to advertise for bids for the construction of pump house #3. On <br />Thursday, March 29, 2001, staff opened bids for construction of pump house #3 and the low bidder <br />for the project was Municipal Builders, Inc. at a low bid of $436,300.00. <br />Granger questioned the price on the auxiliary generator and felt the City could purchase another at a <br />more reasonable price. <br />Puleo made motion, Granger seconded, to table action on the awarding of the contract for <br />construction of pump house #3 to allow the Public Works Director time to investigate the purchase of <br />another auxiliary generator. This issue will be discussed at the April 16, 2001 Council meeting. <br />All aye. Motion carried. <br />WAGNER GREENHOUSE ZONING ORDINANCE TEXT AMENDMENT <br />For the past number of months, staff had met with representatives from Wagner's Greenhouse, who <br />operate a'greenhouse operation on CSAH 8 next to Everton Avenue. Wagner wanted to construct <br />additional wholesale greenhouses on the property; however the greenhouse operation was considered <br />a lawfully existing non -conforming use that was established prior to the adoption of the City's current <br />zoning regulations. The property is zoned General Business and wholesale greenhouse were <br />permitted only in the Agricultural and Rural Residential Zoning district. The City's zoning ordinance <br />prohibited the business to expand. <br />On February 28, 2001, the Planning Commission held a public hearing to consider the proposed <br />ordinance amendment and by a 5 to 2 vote recommended approval.
