City Council meeting of April 2, 2001 <br />Page 5 of 9 <br />representing Wagner Greenhouse had drafted a text amendment consistent with the City of Hugo's <br />zoning ordinance, both now and in the future. <br />Puled removed himself from the discussion and vote under the City's Attorneys direction to avoid a <br />perceived conflict of interest, since Puled is owner and operator of a similar business in the City. <br />Haas made motion, Miron seconded, to adopt ORDINANCE 2001-349 AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING CHAPTER 320 (ZONING ORDINANCE) OF THE CITY CODE BY ALLOWING <br />RETAIL AND WHOLESALE GREENHOUSES IN THE GENERAL BUSINESS ZONING <br />DISTRICT. <br />Aye: Granger, Haas, Petryk, Miron <br />Abstain: Puled <br />Motion carried. <br />REQUEST FOR STOP SIGN ar,159TH STREET/FINLEY AVE (CREEKVIEW PRESERVE) <br />Representatives from nineteen properties within Creekview Preserve had petitioned for the <br />installation of a stop sign at the intersection of 159'' Street and Finley Avenue to address the primary <br />concern of speeding, both with the neighborhood vehicular traffic and construction vehicles in the <br />neighborhood. <br />City Engineer Dave Mitchell had reviewed the request and found it to be inconsistent with the City's <br />transportation plan as a minor collector street. The City Engineer recommend that Council does not <br />approve the installation of the stop sign. <br />Miron made motion, Granger seconded, to accept the City Engineers recommendation and deny the <br />request for stop signs at the intersection of 159'h Street and Finley Avenue. Additionally, Miron <br />directed staff to notify Washington County Sheriffs Department of the problem and ask them to <br />monitor speed on the road, send a letter to contractors directing them to obey the speed limits, and <br />send a copy of the letter to the residents and express to them his willingness to meet with them if they <br />have additional issues to discuss. <br />Ayes: Granger, Haas, Miron, Puled <br />Nay: Petryk <br />Motion carried. <br />PURCHASE OF A ONE -TON PICKUP TRUCK <br />In its 2001 City budget, the Hugo City Council approved $35,000 for the acquisition of a one -ton <br />pickup truck to serve a multitude of needs in the Public Works Department. In accordance with state <br />statute, staff obtained three quotations for the purchase of the one -ton pickup truck. Low bidder for <br />the purchase of the truck went to Falls Automotive, at a low bid price of $34,796.30. <br />Miron made motion, Puled seconded, to award purchase of the one -ton pickup truck to Falls <br />Automotive, at a low bid price of $34,796.30. <br />
