Motion carried.
REQUEST SUPPORT OF LEGISLATION TO RESTRICT SALE OF FERTILIZER
City staff had received a letter from the Shorewood mayor requesting the City of Hugo support the
legislation restricting the sale of phosphorous fertilizer. Since this issue is primarily a local issue,
staff recommended Council take no action on this request, but monitor it through the legislation
process with the LMC.
Miron made motion, Granger seconded, to table action until such time staff sees it necessary to bring
it back to the Council.
All aye. Motion carried.
PELOOUIN APPRAISAL WORK
Bid opening for the Peloquin Industrial Park Public Improvement Project was held on March 9, 2001,
in the Hugo City Hall. The City Engineer's department had reviewed the bids in coordination with
the City Attorney's office and found that the apparent low bid is under the engineer's estimate.
Because the original appraisal work of the Peloquin Industrial Park was done a number of years ago,
City attorney Dave Snyder is recommend that another appraisal firm, Bettendorf Roherer, complete an
updating of the appraisal. In anticipation of a future special assessment hearing on this project, staff
recommended City Council authorize the additional appraisal work be completed for the Peloquin
Industrial Park public improvement project by the appraisal firm of Bettendorf Roherer.
Miron made motion, Petryk seconded, to authorize a review of the appraisal for the Peloquin
Industrial Park public improvement project to be done by Bettendorf Roherer at a cost of $1,200.
All aye. Motion carried.
PELOOUIN INDUSTRIAL PARK ROAD RESTRICTIONS
Fred Riermann, owner and operator of American Structural Metal, 15171 Freeland Avenue, had been
experiencing problems accessing Highway 61 from his property in the Peloquin Industrial Park due to
road restrictions. 152°d Street North is designated to become a 9 -ton road as part of the Peloquin
Industrial Park public improvement project. City Engineer Dave Mitchell said that due to
modifications done by MN DOT, the design of a 9 -ton road and a 10 -ton road were very similar.
Miron made motion, Haas seconded, to direct the City Engineer to review the plans for the road in the
Peloquin Industrial Park.
All aye. Motion carried.
Granger made motion, Miron seconded, to lift the road restrictions in the Peloquin Industrial Park for
the spring season of 2001.
All ayes. Motion carried.
