City Council meeting of June 4, 2001 <br />Page 6 <br />located in the southwest quadrant of the City. <br />Haas made motion, Granger seconded, authorizing staff to obtain a license, . <br />the amount of $17,600, <br />for the use of mapping information in the western two miles of the City nord <br />to south, Sections 4 and <br />9, and portions of Sections 16, 21, and 28. Staff is directed to draft a detail& <br />memo regarding the <br />payment of the licensing for the county mapping. Staff is to include sewer aj <br />d water utility funds, as <br />well as storm water utility funds after the moratorium deadline in February 21102, <br />when the storm water <br />ordinance will go into effect. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />REQUEST FOR NO PARKING SIGNS ON 1487 STREET <br />At its May 21, 2001 meeting, the Council approved the request from Gran9 <br />for their expansion of <br />the 61 Stop convenience store. Council member Chuck Haas expressed his <br />ncem for safety at the <br />148'b Street and TH61 intersection, and requested that the Council consider n <br />parking signs on 148th <br />Street. Additionally, staff has been informed by a number of residents about <br />he safety of the 147" <br />Street and TH61 intersection. Specifically, residents have asked whether or E <br />of a stoplight, or at least <br />stop signs could be installed at this intersection. The Council discussed criteria <br />used by MnDOT to <br />have a signal light installed, and that the intersection has not been considered <br />for signalization. <br />Miron made motion, Petryk seconded, directing the City Engineer to work th the Public Works <br />Director for installation of No Parking signs on the north side of 14e Street t TH61. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />OCTOBER 13, 2001 5K AND 1 O "HALF THE SKY" ROAD RACES <br />Shannon Peterson, a resident living at 9441 180'b Street, asked for permission from the City to hold a <br />5K and l OK road race on 180'h Street at their driveway, which is also the site of the Hugo Animal <br />Farm. The road race would benefit an organization called "Half the Sky", wl 'ch provides "hugging <br />grannies" and preschool teacher training for children who remain in Chinese rphanages. This <br />organization is important to Mrs. Peterson since her two daughters have bel adopted from China. <br />"Half the Sky" will get 100% of the profits. <br />Miron made motion, Haas seconded, to approve the road race on 180'' Street and direct staff and Mrs. <br />Peterson to contact the Washington County Sheriffs Department to obtain ssion and traffic <br />control for the road race. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />SITE PLAN FOR NEW CITY HALL <br />At its May 23, 2001 meeting, the Planning Commission considered the site an for the new City Hall, <br />and unanimously approved the plan, and City staff recommended that Council approve the site plan as <br />submitted by the City's architect Bonestoo Rosene Anderlik & Associates. <br />
