City Council meeting of October 15, 2001 <br />Page 6 <br />2001 MINNESOTA MANUFACTURING & TECHNOLOGY MONTH <br />In cooperation with the Minnesota Economic Development Commission, Governor Jesse Ventura <br />requested Councils across the State of Minnesota publicly recognize those manufacturing and <br />technology businesses in the community for the month of October 22"d — November 23d. The City <br />of Hugo is fortunate to have a number of manufacturing businesses that provide a significant amount <br />of property taxes to the City. <br />Miron made motion, Petryk seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION 2001-60 A RESOLUTION <br />PROCLAIMING OCTOBER 22,2001 — NOVEMBER 24, 2001 AS THE 2001 MINNESOTA <br />MANUFACTURING AND TECHNOLOGY MONTH IN THE CITY OF HUGO. <br />VOTING AYE: Granger, Petryk, Puleo, Miron <br />Motion Carried. <br />Congratulation letters will be sent to businesses in the City. <br />MUNICIPAL COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT (MNDOT) <br />Annually, MnDOT solicits projects from local agencies for work to improve the state trunk highway <br />system. Staff requested authorization from Council to submit applications for three street light <br />intersection improvements. Those intersections include TH61 at 130'h Street North, at 140'h Street, and <br />at 147'h Street. This program was established to allow local communities an opportunity to construct <br />projects on the state highway system that may not be in MnDOT's capital improvements plan. The City <br />is very aware that there is a strong priority for street light improvements at these three intersections. <br />Miron made motion, Petryk seconded, authorizing the application for funding through the Municipal <br />Agreement Program and approve RESOLUTIONS 2001-61, 2001-62, AND 2001-63. <br />VOTING AYE: Granger, Petryk, Puleo, Miron <br />Motion Carried. <br />2001 CITY CHRISTMAS PARTY <br />Annually, the Council selects a date at which it invites the City's Commission members, volunteers, and <br />City staff for an evening of celebration. Council member Haas will then schedule the activity at the <br />Wild Wings Game Farm. <br />Granger made motion, Petryk seconded, to schedule the annual City of Hugo Christmas party for Friday, <br />December 14, 2001. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />HIRE CITY BUILDING INSPECTOR <br />Miron made motion, Granger seconded, to hire James Goldsmith as the City's Building Inspector, <br />subject to a six-month probationary period and with the City's presbribed salary matrix. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />
